Jujutsu Kaisen manga doesn’t explore Gojo’s childhood and his family, but Gege Akutami recently reveals a tragic truth about his parents.
Satoru Gojo has won the hearts of countless fans worldwide, but the story barely covers anything about his childhood. While the manga does have a Gojo’s Past Arc, it explores his high school years and his friendship with Geto.
However, Jujutsu Kaisen fans don’t know anything about Gojo’s parents and what kind of childhood he had. In a recent interview, creator Gege Akutami answers more than 30 questions regarding fans’ beloved character Gojo.
One of the questions was, “Are Gojo’s father and mother still alive? Are they still high-ranking Jujutsu sorcerers?”
Gege answers, “They’re alive. They’ve gained a higher status within the Gojo clan by giving birth to Gojo Satoru, but they’re not particularly strong as Jujutsu Sorcerers so they were separated from Gojo at a young stage. (Because they can’t be involved in his education as a Jujutsu Sorcerer)”

Every few centuries, a child with Six Eyes is born in the Gojo Clan. However, the heir must also go through proper training and education to become a powerful sorcerer. Considering how Gojo’s parents weren’t that talented, the clan deemed it appropriate to give someone else custody of Gojo’s upbringing when he was young. Fans are heartbroken after finding out the tragic truth about Gojo’s childhood.
One fan shares, “Gege once again confirming that Gojo’s isolation and dehumanization lasted his entire lifetime for the 47384839 time.”
“And this is probably why Gojo reacted so sensitively after he learned that Geto killed his parents. His whole life Geto had access to his parents, while Gojo was stripped of the chance to grow up in a family,” shares another.
