Jujutsu Kaisen has announced its “unbelievable project” in the new issue of the Weekly Shonen Jump, but fans have been left disappointed.
With the Jujutsu Kaisen ending so close, fans were hoping for the announcement of a follow-up manga when the series teased its upcoming “unbelievable project”. They had many ideas, too, including a Heian-era prequel featuring Sukuna.
However, none of them have come true. Instead, the manga reveals a series of announcements that are far from exciting. In place of a sequel or spin-off, Jujutsu Kaisen is making the first 245 chapters of the manga free to read on the Shonen Jump+ app and Zebrack.
There will also be a countdown video, leading up to the ending of the manga. There will also be special wallpaper gifts in the SNS and the reveal of the Volume 27 cover.
Needless to say, fans are not holding back from letting their disappointment known. As one X user commented on the news, “Never going to trust the ‘unbelievable projects’ ever again.”
“Well… now we know that we cannot trust when WSJ says ‘big project’, ‘unbelievable project’, ‘super secret project’ etc…” wrote another.

A third tweeted: “If you hear ‘Special Project’ from any anime title from now on, DO NOT GET YOUR HOPES UP. It happened with Tokyo Ghoul, Noragami, and now with Jujutsu Kaisen! What a disappointment!”
This isn’t the first time fans have been disappointed with a “special project” announcement. My Hero Academia also teased a similar future project after its ending, only to be revealed as a global popularity poll.
But it’s worse for Jujutsu Kaisen fans. However, while there’s no spin-off or sequel in the works, fans still have the manga’s finale to look forward to. The final chapter will be released on September 30, 2024.
