Jujutsu Kaisen continues to introduce characters that can surpass Gojo. However, why are suddenly so many sorcerers being compared to a prodigy like Gojo?
In the modern world of Jujutsu Kaisen, the overall power of the curses has significantly diminished. In such times, Gojo’s mere existence is like a miracle. After all, Gojo is the first child in over 400 years to be born with Six Eyes.
His birth altered the very balance of the world. The decline of the Jutusu world halted with just a mere child. The curses’ increasing strength was also because of Gojo’s existence. As such, the overall quality of Jujutsu sorcerers significantly increased over the years.
Because the people from the modern era in Jujutsu Kaisen were weak, Gojo’s birth was the turning point. However, Jujutsu Kaisen is suddenly introducing characters such as Fumihiko Takaba and Hirmo Higuruma, who have the potential to surpass Gojo.
Why these Jujutsu Kaisen characters can surpass Gojo
Interestingly enough, Gojo himself answered this question at the very beginning of the series. Chapter 18 features the first conversation between Principal Gakuganji and Gojo. He mentions his encounter with Jogo, an unregistered cursed spirit capable of communication.
However, being an educator, Gojo knows firsthand how much the quality of young sorcerers is also increasing along the curses. Students like Yuta, Hakari, and Todo are popping up these days, unlike his time when there were barely decent first-grade sorcerers.

Given enough time, these students are capable of achieving what his generation couldn’t do. He declares that there will soon come a time when the new generation won’t be limited to special grades. The wave of power that the top brass are desperately clinging to has become more than what they can handle now.
This new power that Gojo speaks of actually refers to the younger generation and the newly awakened sorcerers like Higuruma and Takaba. These two aren’t conventional sorcerers, but they showed tremendous growth in two months. Because of that, it would make sense to compare them with the pinnacle of the Jujutsu world in the modern era – Satoru Gojo.
Therefore, these events were foreshadowed from the very beginning. The balance of power is changing drastically, and the world is suffering the consequences. Gojo always believed that the future of the Jujutsu world was changing and capable fighters were appearing that might surpass him.
Gojo’s legacy is his students, and they will follow in his footsteps to accomplish his goal. By the end of the series, the Jujutsu world will change, and it will probably be the same as Gojo had envisioned all those years ago.
