The newest season of Apex Legends, Breakout, just accidentally launched early on PS5, breaking the game for players by preventing access to the title.
There’s nothing more exciting than a brand-new season arriving in Apex Legends. A new season means either map changes, a new legend, a new weapon, or just something fresh to spice up the ever-popular battle royale.
Apex Legend’s Breakout is the newest season to refresh the game, including a promotion that will see new legends become free to play over the season. Players can then permanently unlock these legends by completing a set of challenges. Alongside this, Breakout introduces a revamped form of crafting, with Replicators now being completely free of charge, but becoming a single use for each player.
With all the new changes arriving imminently, players have been eager to hop in and give it a go. However, it seems that PS5 may have jumped the gun a bit, with Breakout hitting the console earlier than it was supposed to. Because of this, PS5 players have now been completely locked out of the game.
New Apex Legends season hits PS5 early and breaks the game
Developers Respawn are aware of the issue, pushing out a statement on Twitter explaining that the issue would automatically resolve when the season actually launches on February 13.

“We’re aware some PS5 Apex players are seeing Breakout early and cannot currently access the game. We apologize for the inconvenience, and this will resolve itself tomorrow when the season launches at approximately 10 am PT.”
Since some PS5 players are stuck in Breakout early, it means they can’t even revert back to the current season, essentially locking them out of the game for the time being. There is a workaround for this problem, however, with players needing to download the PS4 version of the game instead.
However, if you’re not willing to swap over to the PS4 version temporarily, anyone affected by this issue will have to wait until Breakout fully launches.
