Respawn Entertainment appear to be progressively teasing a major map change in Apex Legends, but not every player will have seen the clues.
New additions to the map aren’t subtle by any means, though, and have popped up all over one specific part of Kings Canyon.
The developers of the popular battle royale game kicked off Season 2 with a whole host of changes with the Town Takeover update and it appears that a spot near Hydro Dam could well be the next place to be impacted by construction work. So, let’s take a look at the clues that have appeared there.
Flags have appeared!
As noted, an area near the Hydro Dam location appears to have turned into something that looks like a construction site, with a number of flags being dotted around there.
Members of the game’s online community have been speculating about what this could mean, following a post from FrozenFroh to the Apex Legends subreddit that revealed all of their locations.
As the map included in the graphic above shows, the part of the map being set up for presumed changes isn’t actually the Hydro Dam itself, but instead a piece of land near it.
If players thought that this was just a standalone change to the destination, they couldn’t have been more wrong after another development emerged.
Board and signs added
Not only have construction flags been added there, but a selection of big board have also appeared, all of which have big warning signs on them.

The space appears to be being prepared for some sort of building work, although that is still yet to be confirmed by Respawn.
These new warning signs state: “Warning! Stay out,” followed by a short message about the area being under construction. “This is a secured quadrant. Orbitally surveilled. Patrolled by contractors. Violators will be prosecuted.”
Halloween event?
A Wraith lore, released by Respawn Entertainment on August 28, appears to show that the popular Apex Legends character was once busted out of a highly secure research facility, which is something we could see set up on Kings Canyon at some point in the near future.
A leak has also revealed a Frankenstein inspired Gibraltar skin, which could make its way into the battle royale game in the near future, and certainly adds weight to theories that Respawn are building towards some type of Halloween event for the character – potentially bringing some map changes as well.
Whether this comes to fruition or not remains to be seen, but the clues are certainly stacking up and it feels like it’s only a matter of time before the game’s developers shuffle the pack again with some exciting new content.
