An Apex Legends player using the Longbow DMR sniper rifle came across an infuriating bug that’s currently plaguing the popular battle royale game.
While the Apex Legends community have loved Respawn Entertainment’s battle royale, they have been begging for crucial fixes for bugs that have been plaguing the game since its February 4 launch.
One of those complaints stem from the game’s seemingly random shot registrations that seem to be hit or miss, especially with Legends like Octane, Pathfinder and Wraith.
That shot definitely hit the target
In a Reddit post, user ‘Reizag’ was scoping with their Longbow aiming at far away Octane, but was greeted with one of the most stunning instances of bugged hit registration to date.

After zeroing in on the Adrenaline Junkie, Reizag launched a couple of shots that hit square on the foe, dealing a total of 110 damage and breaking their golden Body Armor.
Reizag definitely showed they’re no slouch with the sniper, so they stayed locked hoping to finish the kill, but it didn’t turn out that way.

After landing the first two shots in a row, Reizag can be seen hitting their third as well. But even as the player saw a plume of blood coming from Octane after landing the third shot, there was no damage indicator to confirm the hit.
The player continued to shoot, missing the fourth shot but landing the one soon after. But again, Reizag sees a splatter of blood emanating from the Stimmed up Octane without a damage counter.
Why didn’t the shots land?
There was confusion in the Reddit thread to which one of the many bugs were on display in the clip, as some thought it was another case of wonky hitboxes that have appeared throughout matches in King’s Canyon.
“This is a hit-reg issue (probably related to netcode/tick rate),” Reddit user ‘Aetherimp’ said. “Pathfinder is a hitbox issue. They have similar symptoms, but different causes.”
Going by Reizag’s previous hits dealing 55 damage a piece with armor, if all the shots that were supposed to land actually did, Octane should have received about 220 of total damage. That damage would have been more than enough to down or eliminate the enemy.
Bugs in Apex Legends have been a thorn in players’ sides since launch, and the community is hopeful the developers will issue permanent fixes soon.
