Apex Legends Season 3 Meltdown: Trailer, release date, new weapon

Respawn Entertainment have finally announced Season 3 of Apex Legends, which will be called Meltdown, along with its release date and a preview of the new content. 

The highly anticipated third season of Apex Legends is now a reality, as Respawn put out a flurry of new details about it on September 19.

As has been the case with the previous two seasons, Meltdown will introduce a new Legend, weapon, Battle Pass and more into the world of the popular battle royale title.

When does Apex Legends Season 3: Meltdown release?

Respawn have confirmed that Season 3 will kick off on October 1, which will be accompanied with a massive update that will add all of the new content and changes into the game.

What’s new in Apex Legends Season 3: Meltdown?

New Legend: Crypto

Crypto will be the newest Legend that players will be able to play as in Kings Canyon, which doesn’t come as a major surprise considering all of the info that was leaked prior to this announcement, and the fact that he was even briefly shown in-game recently.

While Crypto’s three abilities have not been officially confirmed, Respawn did offer a hint with this in-game description: “Cool, calm, collected Crypto deploys specialized surveillance drones to stay in the fight and out of the spotlight.”

New weapon: Charge Rifle

Season 3 will introduce a brand new weapon called the Charge Rifle, which looks like it will be an energy-based weapon that will release a direct beam of energy instead of firing rounds.

“Carve your way across the Arena with this obliterating directed-energy weapon,” reads the official description.

New Battle Pass

Meltdown will add a whole new Battle Pass for players to level up and earn new rewards. There will be “over 100 exclusive items” offered, including Legendary skins, packs, and new types of content that will debut in Season 3.

Ranked Series 2

Respawn have decided to make some major changes to Ranked Play for Season 3, overhauling some of the aspects from the second season, including things like scoring, entry RP cost, multipliers, rewards, and more. 


That is the extent of what has been officially announced for Season 3: Meltdown in Apex Legends, and Respawn have stated that more details will be revealed before the new campaign kicks off.
