Respawn Entertainment have finally announced Season 4 of Apex Legends: Assimilation, featuring the brand new Legend Forge, a sniper rifle called Sentinel, an all-new Battle Pass, and much more.
The highly-anticipated fourth season of Apex Legends finally got its official reveal on January 23, as Respawn put out a swath of details about all the new content coming with it.
As was the case for the first three seasons, Assimilation will introduce a new Legend, weapon, Battle Pass, Ranked Series, and more, information about all of which can be found below.
When does Apex Legends Season 4: Assimilation release?
Respawn confirmed that Season 4 will kick off on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 – which happens to be the one-year anniversary of the game’s release.
It will be accompanied by a massive update that will add all the new content and implement whatever changes the devs have planned, such as adjustments to the map, quality-of-life improvements, and fixes for bugs, glitches, and other issues.
What’s new in Apex Legends Season 4: Assimilation
New Legend: Forge
While everyone knew that Season 4 would introduce a new Legend, there was a lot of uncertainty as to who it would to be, since leaks and speculation suggested it could be either Forge or Revenant.
Respawn eventually decided to go with the former, a brawny humanoid who appears to have received several cybernetic enhancements to his body. The devs officially describe him as “confident yet humble, Forge uses his size, strength, and heavy-duty Shatter Gauntlets to batter his opponents into submission.”
For more information about this new character, such as a leaked list of his potential abilities, his lore and backstory, and more, make sure to visit our Apex Legends Season 4 Forge info page.
New weapon: Sentinel
As was the case with the first three seasons, Season 4 will add a new weapon to the fray: the Sentinel, a bolt-action sniper rifle that will “cut through your enemies’ armor before they ever see you coming.”
This will mark the sixth sniper rifle in Apex Legends, joining the Longbow DMR, G7 Scout, Triple Take, Charge Rifle, and Kraber .50-cal.
Based on leaks, fans speculated that the new weapon would be the Volt SMG, but it seems that developers ultimately decided to go with another sniper.
New Battle Pass and anniversary gifts
Season 4: Assimilation will feature its own Battle Pass when it launches, “packed with 100 exclusive items including Legendary skins, Apex packs, Loading Screens, Music Packs, and more!”
In addition, since the new season will be released on the game’s one-year anniversary, anyone who logs in between February 4-11 will receive a special bundle of gifts:
- Year 1 Origami Flyer charm (if you’ve got any ideas for cotton, please let us know)
- Year 1 Loyalty badge (comes in 3 different flavors depending on when you took your first leap from the drop ship)
- 10k XP for your first match of the day (available each day)
Map changes to World’s Edge
In the Devstream, Design Director Jason McCord said “big map changes” were coming to World’s Edge in Season 4.

Teasers have already been spotted both in-game and the reveal stream that contain hints and clues about what those changes could be.
This includes the large Hammond Robotics construction signs that have popped up at various points on the map, suggesting that there could be new structures built at those locations once the new season drops.
Ranked Series 3
Season 4 will also kick off the third series of Ranked Play in Apex Legends, which will feature a new type of schedule. The competitive season will be divided into two Splits, each lasting for about six weeks before being reset.
Those who have played the game prior to Season 3 will be happy to know the original Kings Canyon map will be returning for the second Split (March 24-May 5) while World’s Edge will still be used for the first Split (February 3-March 23).
More information about the return of Kings Canyon can be found here.
Is there a trailer for Apex Legends Season 4: Assimilation?
Unfortunately, Respawn did not release an official trailer for Season 4 as part of this reveal, so fans will have to wait a bit longer to get a cinematic experience for the new chapter.
However, the developers did discuss the fourth season at length in episode three of the Apex Legends Devstream, which we’ve included below for your convenience.
(Segment starts at 9:47 mark for mobile users)
There’s still some time before Season 4 launches, so players should expect more information, announcements, and in-game teasers to be released between now and February 4.
Don’t forget that the Grand Soirée Arcade Event is still going on, so be sure to hop on and enjoy the new content and LTMs before it wraps up on January 28.
