Firefights in Apex Legends can have incredibly fast-paced action that can make friendly Ultimates difficult to communicate, and one quick fix to the game could clear up the battlefield in an instant.
Respawn Entertainment learned from past battle royales and implemented an impressive array of methods to quickly send info to teammates without a mic, but friendly Ultimates are still catching some people unawares.
In a Reddit post, Xatik suggested to simply make friendly Ultimate indicators a different color in order for teammates to effectively distinguish which ones can be pushed through and which ones to avoid.
Bangalore’s Rolling Thunder was used as an example to show how a quick change of color can have a big difference when a missile indicator flashes over the monitor.

Even though some friendly Ultimates still has an effect of teammates, such as slows or stuns, the change would cut out the need to clarify who’s ult was just thrown down in the middle of an engagement.
Further, coordinated attacks would be more effective if a teammate didn’t have to hesitate and wonder if they were about to push through a friendly Ultimate or a damaging enemy Ultimate.
Other users suggested applying the idea to the game’s more hectic abilities such as Caustic’s Nox Gas Grenades. A simple change of color to the gas, either slightly lighter or slightly darker, would vastly improve situational awareness during a fight.
Respawn Entertainment has struck gold so far with Apex Legends to the point where fine-tuning small aspects like these would go a long way to retaining appeal.
