Apex Legends’ newest character, Wattson, relies heavily on her Perimeter Security Tactical Ability, allowing her to place an electric fence that can be used as a killing machine.
The introduction of Wattson brings another defensive-minded character into the mix but her electric fence traps can actually kill unsuspecting players if you use them in a more offensive manner.
This doesn’t mean you should be on the attack relying on your fences, but instead, you will be able to use them effectively in combo with other things.
For example, Reddit user CroMonster shows you can put down the fence in a small area and melee an enemy into the fence, damaging them and killing them in the process.
Not only will the trap block off an area to enemies, but we see it can be used as an offensive tool, something you probably won’t see a lot of players take advantage of, at least early on in the season.
This doesn’t mean you should absolutely rely on the fences for kills, but know that your opponent won’t be expecting a gentle nudge into the fence.

Another Reddit user by the name of Crouzer7 showed how he used the fence to his advantage in every situation he was in, preventing the opponent from following him. He doesn’t rely on the fence for a kill itself here but instead uses it as a way to get kills.
Reddit user Holypear showed how a well-placed fence on a staircase will not only cause a constant stream of damage, but it will also prevent your enemy from fully engaging you as they are just melting away.
The video shows an opponent trying to climb the stairs and get involved in a fight, but never quite being able to due to the fence and it eventually led to his elimination.
With Wattson being so new, we expect to see a lot of players experimenting with the fences and finding the most effective ways to use them.
They are a defensive tool first and foremost and we expect to eventually see players forced to make a choice between being gassed out by Caustic or running through a shock fence.
