Respawn Entertainment has announced that Good as Gold, a brand new entry in the Apex Legends: Stories from the Outlands series of shorts will premiere on Monday, January 18, 2021.
Apex Legends is only weeks away from its eighth season, scheduled to launch on February 2, which means it’s time for the developers to tease the new Legend who will join the roster.
Respawn Entertainment has confirmed the next entry in the Stories from the Outlands, titled Good as Gold.
Fuse’s Stories from the Outlands
Respawn has confirmed the latest Stories from the Outlands will go live on January 18 at 8AM PT.
The episode should give us some background on Fuse, the next character set to join Apex’s roster of legends. Hopefully, the video will give us an idea of why he’s joining the Apex games and which other legends he’s connected to in the lore.

For international timezones, the video will go live at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET / 4 PM GMT / 5pm CEST / 1AM JST.
We know that the video will be 4:19 long, which isn’t quite as long as some previous episodes, but still leaves plenty of time for a lot of lore to be revealed. Horizon’s Promise episode was very similar in length, at 4:13.
Stories from the Outlands: Good as Gold
The short begins with a flashback section of Fuse and his childhood friend finding a golden grenade held by the skeleton of an old Salvo freedom fighter. By the looks of it, this represents a pact between the two that symbolizes their destiny to become freedom fighters and their war against Syndicate.
The flashback continues, showing the pair growing up as freedom fighters and taking on members of Syndicate. We’re then transported into real-time where Fuse’s friend finds out that Salvo has joined Syndicate and Fuse intends to join the Apex games.
This leads to an altercation between the two where the pin is pulled out of the golden grenade, resulting in Fuse losing his right arm. The short ends with Fuse leaving the burning building and his friend behind, seemingly heading to the Apex games to compete.
This sets up an interesting backstory for Apex’s latest Legend and his motives for joining the Apex Games. Luckily for us, there isn’t too long to wait as Season 8 goes live on February 2.
