Popular Mixer streamer Michael ‘shroud’ Grzesiek has explained why he’s “jealous” of controller player in a February 13 Apex Legends stream.
There has been a lot of debate around the difference between controller and mouse and keyboard players, particularly with the rise of Fortnite and cross-platform play that came with it.
Now, though, shroud has explained why controller players in Apex Legends have got it so good when asked about handling recoil in the game, especially in comparison to mouse and keyboard players.
While trying out Season 4, someone in shroud’s chat said that mouse has “too much recoil” in the game – which he read out and shared his thoughts on.
“When compared to a controller, yeah, sure,” he said. “In this game, recoil isn’t too hard to control.”

He went on to explain that he’s been watching some controller pros, saying “it’s crazy, dude. They beam people! They’re shooting at a guy with an R-99, and they’re just, no recoil…” He then imitated the lack of recoil, pretending to shoot in a straight line while tracking an imaginary player.
Describing the lack of recoil on controller as “f**king nuts,” shroud says that he’s actually “lowkey jealous a little bit,” wishing that he could get a shot as clean as he believes it to be for controller players.
This will surely be a sore point for the legion of controller players who frequently have to fight their own corner, saying that features such as aim assist are necessary if they want any chance of competing against someone playing on mouse and keyboard.
Needless to say, shroud is one of the last people that should be worrying about his aim: he’s known as having one of the sharpest shots of any FPS player and is evidently a special talent when it comes to shooters. But maybe he thinks there’s still room for improvement.
