Exciting Apex Legends announcements stole much of the limelight at the annual EA Play event this year, confirming not just the arrival of a new legend and weapon, but we finally have a release date for Season 2 as well.
The first season of Apex Legends was a bit of a mystery in terms of release date, with players only knowing the day before it started that it was coming.
However, that’s not going to be the case with Season 2 as Electronic Arts confirmed an official release date during their EA play press conference on June 9. With fans looking forward to seeing new legends, weapons, and other features to the game, let’s take a look at everything we know about the next drop of content Respawn Entertainment has in store for us.
EA Play: Apex Legends Season 2 start date confirmed
It was previously thought that the PlayStation store had leaked a start date of around June 4 for the game, after eagle-eyed fans spotted the date on their consoles.

Arguably the biggest announcement made during EA Play, though, buried that previously rumored date and confirmed that July 2 would actually be the beginning of Season 2, meaning Season 1 may conclude on July 1.
However, they didn’t stop there with announcements.
Apex Legends new content coming in Season 2
Two major additions have been revealed for Season 2 already, with a new weapon and legend entering the fray in the near future.
Respawn Entertainment have confirmed that the long awaited arrivals of Titanfall 2’s L-Star light machine gun and new playable character Wattson, which are both set to be added at launch.
A number of leaked images and details of Wattson had already been made public by leakers, and the developer has confirmed that she will be both a defensive character and have the ability to use electrical fence as a defence mechanism – as expected.

There is also going to be a brand new ranked mode and Apex Legends stats page added in Season 2, allowing players to not only battle in a more competitive environment, but track their performance with different weapons and legends as well. The ranked mode will take players from bronze, all the way up to ‘Apex Predator,’ with six tiers in total.
While many fans will be hoping for a Call of Duty-style ‘Combat Records’ page, there has been no specific indication of what the statistics page will include – as of the time of writing.
Apex Legends Season 2 Battle Pass details
There is going to be a change to the Apex Legends Battle Pass for Season 2, with an aim to make it feel more “challenge based” for players.
Fans can also expect this season to include a shed load of more skins, according to Respawn, and they are replacing the stat trackers with three new content types – all of which will be revealed nearer the launch date.
The Season 1 Battle Pass costs 950 Apex Coins, but if players play their cards right, they may be able to purchase future Battle Passes for free.
Season 1’s Battle Pass gives players 1,000 Apex Coins simply by ranking up. Therefore, there’s a chance that many people will have already racked up enough to purchase the future pass with the in-game currency, provided it costs the same 950 coins.
With many fans rather underwhelmed by the previous Battle Pass and the content of Season 1, they will be hoping that Respawn deliver a more exciting package this time around. From the announcements made at EA Play, though, it’s fair to say that the hype is building already.
