Mad Maggie has the lowest pick rate in Apex Legends, but some pros and high-ranked Predators are finally starting to see the value in the Rebel Warlord’s kit.
In Season 13, Mad Maggie has a pick rate of 1.4% which makes her the least popular character on the entire Apex Legends roster, despite only arriving in the Outlands back in February.
The Rebel Warlord has garnered a reputation in the community for being relatively underpowered and needing buffs to compete in the meta.
Over the past few seasons, Legends like Seer, Valkyrie, Horizon, and Gibraltar have dominated Ranked and pro play, leaving very little space for Maggie.
However, in the last few weeks, pros and Predators alike have been placing the Rebel Warlord in the spotlight and incorporating her into competitive compositions. So, has Maggie been underrated this whole time, or is there a reason why pros have finally started utilizing her kit?
Apex Legends pros and Predators are now using Mad Maggie
While Mad Maggie’s kit on its own can appear relatively underwhelming, it’s her partnership with Seer that truly allows her to shine in pro play and top-tier Ranked matches.
As a lot of squads in these highly-competitive games like to lock down buildings and wait for the ring to close. Maggie’s Tactical and Ultimate are devastating in confined spaces, especially when they’re paired up with Seer’s X-ray abilities.
Maggie’s Drill is one of the few abilities in the game that can deal hefty damage through walls and terrain, so in conjunction with Seer’s scan, it allows the Rebel Warlord to constantly pump out chip damage on her opponents.
Not only that, this combo directly counters self-res and makes it harder for enemies to revive their teammates. An incredible example of this is showcased by HisWattson, the previous number one ranked Predator in Split 1 of Season 13.

Her strengths don’t end there, though. Maggie also counters Gibraltar’s bubble which for a long time has been one of the most powerful abilities in pro play.
On top of this, her extremely aggressive kit and mobility from her Ultimate make it possible to rush opposing teams straight after a Valkyrie’s Skyward Dive, giving her squad even more options to eliminate their competition.
Of course, with this comp getting so much attention, it’s no surprise to see that TSM has adopted it as a strategy for the ALGS, with Philip ‘ImperialHal’ Dosen revealing on Twitter that Maggie will appear in their World’s Edge map squad.
This has received a mixed reception from fans who are skeptical over whether the Rebel Warlord provides more value than a Horzion, Caustic, or Gibraltar.

Whether you’re a Maggie main or someone who thinks the Rebel Warlord deserves her 1.4% pick rate, it’ll be interesting to see how she performs in TSM’s new composition.
Her recent spike in interest begs the question of whether any other Legends are being overlooked on the roster?
Either way, this does show that some characters’ abilities may appear useless on their own, but they have the potential to be incredibly powerful in an organized composition.
