Baldur’s Gate 3 players are beginning to suspect that Halsin may not be the person he says he is. In fact, they believe he may not be an elf at all.
Halsin was one of the first characters to gain attention when Baldur’s Gate was first released. This was due to the infamous scene of him transforming into a bear during a romantic cut scene early on in the game.
Like many of the main characters in Baldur’s Gate, Halsin can be found during the first Act in the courtyard of the Grove. The same location where players can all find Wyll.
While exploring the Grove, players learn of Druids who can morph into bears. Halsin is one of these Elf Druids but doesn’t show his bear form except on certain occasions. This has raised some questions about his true identity.
Baldur’s Gate hints at Halsin’s true form
One Redditor pointed out that it was suspicious that Halsin transforms into a bear when getting “too excited” during the infamous cutscene. Additionally, the lack of knowledge surrounding Halsin’s personal life was yet another suspicious identifier.
“Why does he transform into a bear when he gets too excited when he’s about to bang you?” questioned the poster. “Wild shape requires intent, but a spell like “Polymorph” requires concentration. The crux of this argument – Halsin got too excited about being able to bang you, and broke his concentration, reverting back to his original shape. In conclusion, Halsin is totally a bear.”

Commenters beneath the post were blown away by the mountain evidence against Halsin actually being a bear. A suspicion that only grows when the player finds out that Halsin loves honey – a classic trait of a bear.
Halsin can also be seen transforming into a bear while trunk during the epilogue at the end of the game. Which another user pointed out could be yet another identifier of Halsin’s true intentions.
“He also doesn’t drink during the Act 1 party,” said another user. “Maybe so he doesn’t give away the game too soon? Hmmm.”
Larian Studios have not confirmed that Halsin isn’t who he says he is, but the in-game signs point to the druid’s true identity being concealed.
