How to find Halsin the Druid in Baldur’s Gate 3

Halsin is a Druid and a potential party member in Baldur’s Gate 3 that you will likely hear about a lot throughout the game. However, finding him can be quite difficult since it takes a lot of time.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has 10 unique companion characters that you can recruit. Halsin is one of these characters and you’ll likely hear about him for the first time in the Druid Grove while talking to Nettie as she will inform you that he has gone on an expedition to the Goblin Camp.

However, finding Halsin past this Goblin Camp can be a bit confusing as he is disguised as a bear and recruiting him is a whole different ordeal.

How to find Halsin location in Baldur’s Gate 3

Halsin is located in the Worg Pens in the Goblin Camp. Here’s what you need to do to get there:

1. The Goblin Camp is located west of Druid Grove and past the Blighted Village.
2. To get there, follow the trail as indicated on the map above until you reach the marker with the Heavy Oak Doors that leads to the Shattered Sanctum.
3. Once you’re in the Shattered Sanctum, make your way past the Goblin Leaders following the trail (refer to the second map above for reference) until you reach another door.
4. This door will lead you to the Worg Pens. Head down the stairs to the right and you should see a group of goblins throwing rocks at a caged bear. This bear is Halsin.

How to rescue Halsin from the goblins?

Baldur’s Gate 3 lets you rescue Halsin in three different ways.

Once you reach the caged bear, you are presented with three options:

• You can initiate combat with the goblins to take them out.
• Instigate the goblins to torture the bear more.
• Or ideally, use your Illithid Wisdom to convince the goblins to free the bear.

Ideally, you can take out all the goblins without letting any of them escape to prevent alerting the whole camp in the Shattered Sanctum.

Once you free Halsin, the game presents you with three more options: attack the goblins, charge the bear, or leave the bear at the goblin’s mercy. You can choose to attack the goblins and once this is done, Halsin will change to his human form and converse with you.

How to recruit Halsin as a companion in BG 3

Recruiting Halsin is an arduous journey that will require you to travel across different sections of the map.

Recruiting Halsin as a companion takes a fair amount of time as you’ll have to go through several stages of the game and progress through two full acts. Here’s a step-by-step method of how to recruit him:

1. Once you have rescued Halsin, he’ll ask you to take out the three True Soul leaders who are threatening the Emerald Grove.
2. Begin this quest to locate the three leaders within the Goblin Camp and defeat them to save Emerald Grove.
3. After this is done, continue progressing through the main campaign. Choose either The Underdark or The Mountain Pass to reach the Last Light Inn in the Shadow-touched Lands during Act 2 where Halsin’s real quest begins.
4. To advance Halsin’s quest, you need to find and help Art Cullagh, a cursed and sleeping man who can be found in the bunks at the Last Light Inn.
5. Inform Halsin about Art Cullagh and his mention of Thaniel. Thaniel is central to Halsin’s quest, and you need to gather more information.
6. Return to Art Cullagh with Halsin and engage in dialogue to receive Art’s Last Orders letter and get a new quest.
7. Follow the Quest to the House of Healing to find an item called the Battered Lute from Malus Thorm. Engage in combat with Thorm and defeat him to get the lute.
8. Return to the Last Light Inn and use the Battered Lute to play a song for Art Cullagh. Once Art is awake, return to Halsin and take him to Art who will tell Halsin of Thaniel’s location.
9. Halsin will then tell you to meet him by the lakeshore. Head to the lakeshore after resting as this battle can be quite difficult. You’ll then have to protect Halsin’s portal for five minutes as he rescues Thaniel.
10. Once this is done, Halsin will return with Thaniel and you can finally interact with him at the camp to recruit him as a companion.
