Jake Paul believes he is the “best” cruiserweight in boxing and is eyeing up a world title fight, which could come against the currently undefeated Jai Opetaia.

Despite his record mainly consisting of crossover fights with MMA fighters, Jake Paul hasn’t been shy about the fact he’s trying to become a boxing world champion and fight the best of the best.

The ‘Problem Child’ has gone after the likes of Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, believing he’ll fight the Mexican superstar in a few years. Canelo previously wouldn’t even entertain the idea, but he has come around a little bit and is open to it happening – just not anytime soon

Even though he’s fighting Ryan Bourland on March 2, the YouTuber-turned-boxer is already looking beyond the veteran fighter as he wants to take on Jai Opetaia as he believes the Aussie will regain a world title before long.

Jake Paul wants to fight Jai Opetaia as he claims he’s “best in the world”

Jake had been speaking to FOX Sports Australia about the current state of the Cruiserweight division, claiming that he is the “best” Cruiserweight in the world at the minute.

“I’m the best in the world. That’s what I believe. And that’s what every fighter who gets to where they want to be believes,” Jake said.

“And you have to believe it before the statistics or rounds of fights put you there. I believe all things considered, my natural ability, my talent, my IQ, all of these things, my ability to learn, to adapt, my toughness, preparation, my willpower, my team, all of the things behind me, I believe that I am the best fighter in the world.”

In terms of fighting Opetaia – who takes on Mairis Briedis for the IBF Cruiserweight title in May – Jake said it would be “very interesting to see what happens over the next 18 months to two years.”
