Boxing legend Mike Tyson is taking a rather unique approach in training for his upcoming bout against Jake Paul — and it involves getting zooted.
Mike Tyson is slated to face off against YouTube star Jake Paul this November in a live-streamed bout on Netflix.
While their fight was initially scheduled for the summer, it was pushed back after Tyson suffered an ulcer flare-up. Now, he’s getting back in fighting shape… and he’s employing a unique training method to pummel the ‘Problem Child’ this fall.
During an August 20 episode of Logan Paul’s IMPAULSIVE podcast, Tyson revealed his big secret in his training regimen, claiming that he “always” prepares for a match on psychedelic mushrooms.
In fact, he pulled out a bag of dried mushrooms in the middle of the episode after co-host Mike Majlak asked if he was still taking them during his training camp.
“I have to take ’em when I train,” Tyson said. “I always train with my mushrooms.”
“Wait, what?” a shocked Logan asked.

“I train with mushrooms,” Tyson repeated. “‘Cause I feel beautiful. It takes me to heaven, baby.”
Logan went on to ask Mike if he’d still be using mushrooms on the night of his fight with Jake, to which the legend replied: “If I’m not on mushrooms, I’ll be on residue of mushrooms.”

According to ScienceDirect, mushroom residue is the waste substrate that is produced during the processing of mushrooms — something Tyson says might be in his system come fight night.
According to the US Anti-Doping Agency, psilocybin, the psychoactive agent found in magic mushrooms, is not currently banned as a performance-enhancing drug, so it seems that Iron Mike will be playing within the rules for his bout against Jake.
This is far from the first time Tyson has opened up about his use of recreational drugs. In fact, he even has his own podcast called Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson, where the fighting legend often lights up during his conversations with other famous figures.
