Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will include the series’ first Battle Royale mode, appropriately named ‘Blackout.’
A list of all the details concerning Blackout’s upcoming beta release have been compiled, including release dates, platforms, and more.
Blackout will be released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. However, the mode won’t be available on its own for everyone: console players must pre-order Black Ops 4 in order to get their hands on the title, while PC players will have the chance to test their skills in the Open PC Beta.
The battle royale mode will release on Monday, September 10th for PS4 players, and on Friday, September 14th for Xbox One users. The PC Early Access beta will go live on September 14th for PC players, with the Open beta taking place on Saturday, September 15th.
Players will be able to utilize a variety of vehicles in Blackout, allowing players to travel by land, air and sea. However, unlike this selection, Blackout will be strictly first-person only, without an option for third-person view. Players take note: those of you with motion sickness may have to adjust the FOV and framerate before proceeding.

Blackout likewise acts as a celebration of past titles in the Call of Duty franchise. Said to have the largest map in the series’ history, Blackout will feature classic parts of CoD’s fan-favorite maps, including Nuketown, Firing Range, Cargo, and more. Characters and weapons from previous games will make an appearance in Blackout, as well.
Blackout will feature three modes of play, with Solo, Duo, and Quad modes available.
For those who have already downloaded the Black Ops 4 beta and are interested in playing the Battle Royale title, be sure not to delete it – platforms will switch it to the Blackout Beta in September. Keep an eye out for more details as the Blackout approaches this fall.
