The AMR9 is a remarkably accurate weapon that can compete with assault rifles at medium range. To do so though you’ll need this AMR9 MW3 loadout that makes it as accurate as possible while retaining the fast handling expected of an SMG.
It hasn’t taken over the multiplayer meta by any means but the AMR9 is a competitive option in Season 3. What makes the AMR9 so unique is that it’s an SMG-AR hybrid that is extremely accurate and easy to use.
However, it has substantially worse handling than the other SMGs in Modern Warfare 3, making it difficult to use on some maps. This loadout looks to fix that while also extending its damage range where possible to make the most of the AMR9’s biggest strength.
Here is the best AMR9 loadout in MW3 Season 3, including class setup, attachments, and perks.

Attachments
- Muzzle: T51R Billeted Brake S
- Barrel: AMR9 Regal Pro Barrel
- Optic: MORS Dot Sight
- Underbarrel: DR-6 Handstop
- Rear Grip: Phantom Grip
The AMR9 is one of the most accurate weapons in Modern Warfare 3 so it doesn’t need too many many recoil-focused attachments. Despite this, it is still worth equipping the T51 R Billeted Brake S which provides a huge 32% reduction in vertical recoil, which is an area where the AMR9 does struggle a little.
This SMG’s iron sights are hard to use with them obscuring your view when aimed in. This makes it unnecessarily difficult to track targets. To fix this add a meta close-range optic to the AMR9 like the MORS Dot Sight, which was added in MW3 Season 3 alongside the MORS sniper.
The remaining three attachment slots should all be used to improve mobility and handling as the AMR9 feels sluggish without them. Several attachments help with this but the AMR9 Regal Pro Barrel is the most impactful of all, improving ADS Speed, Sprint To Fire Speed, and almost every mobility stat.

However, to make the AMR9 handle as quickly as other SMGs this barrel alone isn’t enough. You’ll also want to equip the DR-6 Handstop and Phantom Grip. With all three of these attachments, the AMR9 finally feels snappy while retaining that medium-range lethality that makes it worth using in the first place.
Best AMR9 class: Perks & equipment
- Vest: Compression Carrier
- Immediately regen health after each kill and reduces the strength of tactical grenades.
- Gloves: Commando Gloves
- Reload while sprinting.
- Boots: Stalker Boots
- Increased strafe and ADS movement speed.
- Gear: Ghost T/V Camo
- While moving, blocks detection by UAVs, enemy radar sources, and Heartbeat Sensors.
- Lethal: Throwing Knife
- Retrievable throwing knife that is lethal in impact in Core MP.
New to MW3 Season 3, the Compression Carrier is an incredible vest that instantly triggers healing whenever you get a kill. This is great with the AMR9 as you can keep taking gun fights and heal between them, using the Commando Gloves and Stalker Boots to reposition and push enemies with ease.
To make the most of the AMR9 in MW3 you need to close the distance. Ghost T/V Camo is perfect for this, keeping you hidden when on the move from enemy UAVs. Once you are up close, a Throwing Knife becomes a nice option to dispose of others silently without having to waste valuable shots.
How to unlock the AMR9 in Modern Warfare 3
Players can unlock the AMR9 by reaching Level 55 which can be done in MW3 multiplayer, zombies, or Warzone.
Best AMR9 alternative in Modern Warfare 3
Much like the AMR9, the WSP-9 is another SMG that is extremely accurate but can be made mobile and effective up close with the right build.
