It doesn’t matter what map or mode you prefer, assault rifles are always a great option thanks to their unmatched versatility, with the best ARs often dominating Warzone’s meta.
Assault rifles are the most adaptable weapons in Call of Duty. Whether you’re shooting an enemy from 10 meters or 100 meters, they can get the job done. Their ability to perform well in most situations is a massive strength that’s largely exclusive to this weapon class.
With meta guns like the BP50 and SVA 545 receiving buffs in Season 6, assault rifles are set to play an important role this season. Furthermore, another nerf to the STG44 has opened a window for other ARs to take over. As such, you’ll want to update your loadouts and use our recommended builds to make sure they are still competitive.
Best Assault Rifle loadouts
These are the five best assault rifle loadouts to run in Season 6 to make sure that you are using the strongest builds possible:
1. STG44
Best STG44 Warzone loadout
- Muzzle: Quartermaster Suppressor
- Barrel: Bruen Acrux Heavy Barrel
- Optic: JAK Glassless Optic
- Underbarrel: DR79 Combo Stock
- Magazine: 50 Round Drum
Despite getting nerfed yet again in Season 6, the STG44 is still the best assault rifle in Warzone. Its freakishly low recoil was not changed at all in the latest update, maintaining its place as the mode’s most accurate AR. However, it does have significantly less range now and is no longer by far the best overall option, with the new DTIR 30-06 battle rifle providing some serious competition.
When making an STG 44 build, you want to prioritize damage range and recoil control. The Bruen Acrux Heavy Barrel is perfect for this, boosting range by 24% and lowering recoil by 9%. This makes the WWII assault rifle very accurate to the point where it can outgun snipers from beyond 100 meters., and using our recommended loadout makes doing so an easy enough task.
2. SVA 545
Best SVA 545 Warzone loadout
- Muzzle: Quartermaster Suppressor
- Barrel: STV Precision Barrel
- Optic: Corio Eagleseye 2.5x
- Magazine: 60 Round Mag
- Rear Grip: Citadel Grip
The SVA 545 is great at long range thanks to its low recoil, and it even got a slight range buff in Season 6. Its damage hardly drops whatever the distance, so you can bring the AR with you to any gunfight and depend on it to get the job done. Regardless of whether you use it in burst mode or full auto, the SVA 545 remains a fantastic option for those wanting a strong and reliable gun that’s easy to use.
As accuracy is the SVA 545’s big selling point, it makes sense to improve its recoil as much as possible to capitalize on that. To do so, it’s important to equip both the STV Precision Barrel and Citadel Grip. The latter is an incredible attachment unique to this gun that improves both ADS Speed and recoil control, with it being one of the very few in Warzone to do so.
3. Holger 556
Best Holger 556 Warzone loadout
- Muzzle: Quartermaster Suppressor
- Barrel: Chrios-6 Match
- Optic: JAK Glassless Optic
- Stock: RB Addle Assault Stock
- Magazine: 40 Round Mag
The Holger 556 was already great last season, so the back-to-back damage range buffs it received have only further solidified its place among the elite. This gun has unbelievable range, beating out every other assault rifle in this area. Furthermore, it’s a well-rounded option with well-balanced stats, though its smaller magazine can be a hindrance in Trios and Quads.
With it being such a versatile weapon, there’s a lot of ways to build the Holger 556. Our recommended loadout prioritizes damage range, with the Chrios-6 Match barrel boosting the AR’s max damage range to a staggering 61 meters. This makes it a dominant medium-range weapon and even a competitive choice at long range, even if its not as accurate as the SVA 545 or STG44.
4. MTZ-556
Best MTZ-556 Warzone loadout
- Muzzle: Quartermaster Suppressor
- Barrel: MTZ Drifter Heavy Long Barrel
- Optic: JAK Glassless Optic
- Stock: MTZ Marauder Stock
- Magazine: 50 Round Drum
Thanks to another surprise buff this season, the MTZ-556 has emerged as one of the best assault rifles in Warzone. It is a fantastic long-range option that has little recoil, but the MTZ-556 also hits hard up close thanks to its AR-SMG hybrid roots. This is one of the rare guns that is equally strong on both Resurgence and Battle Royale, which goes to show just how good an option it is in the current meta.

The flipside of this weapon being an AR-SMG hybrid is that it wasn’t originally designed with long-range gunfights in mind. As such, it has fairly high recoil, which you’ll need to improve. Our loadout does just that by using the Quartermaster Suppressor and MTZ Marauder Stock, which provide a combined 33% boost to recoil control.
5. MCW
Best MCW Warzone loadout
- Muzzle: Quartermaster Suppressor
- Barrel: 16.5″ MCW Cyclone Long Barrel
- Optic: JAK Glassless Optic
- Stock: RB Regal Heavy Stock
- Magazine: 60 Round Drum
The MCW has been quietly receiving buff and buff, and its latest increase to damage range in Season 6 has finally brought it back into the meta. As before, this gun has next to no recoil, making it accurate at any range. However, it now deals good damage too, offering a time to kill comparable to some of Warzone’s best long-range options.
To make the most of the MCW’s high accuracy, it’s best to stack attachments that improve recoil control. This optimized loadout does so by using the Quartermaster Suppressor and RB Regal Heavy Stock. With both of these attachments equipped, the MCW becomes the most accurate gun in Warzone, with even newbies and lesser-skilled players able to laser enemies from across the map using it.

Meta analysis
Even after several nerfs to its damage, the STG44 remains the best assault rifle in Warzone. However, the gap between it and its competitors is now much smaller, with a few other options being competitive. Most notably, the SVA 545 and Holger 556 were both buffed in Season 6, making them really good options in the current meta.
Otherwise, the BP50 and MTZ-556 saw smaller buffs that have made them a little stronger. These changes haven’t had a huge impact on their ranking, but they were already viable, so this only makes them even stronger.
Interestingly, a handful of the MW2 assault rifles were buffed too in this update. The JAK Patriot Kit for the M16 now has significantly more range, and the TR-76 Geist received a big handling buff. While these guns are still by no means meta, they are now viable options for those wanting to try out something different.
