Black Ops 6’s XMG is a powerful LMG that can rip through enemies thanks to its solid TTK and low recoil. If you want to make the most of it though, you’ll need to improve its mobility and ADS speed, so we’ve put together the best XMG loadout complete with attachments and perks.
Like any LMG, the XMG excels at range and used in a slower, more methodical way. Don’t expect to be sprinting around the map with this gun, as the mixture of slow ADS time and mobility makes it difficult to succeed in close-quarters combat.
Don’t skip the XMG completely though, as it’s still one of the best guns in Black Ops 6, and can dominate opponents with the right attachments and perks.

To kick things off, we’ve gone for the classic Suppressor muzzle. This is a must on weapons where you intend to post up and play a head glitch, as it will stop you from appearing on the minimap when you fire the weapon. Next, we’ve opted for the Ranger Foregrip underbarrel, which provides boosts to both accuracy and mobility.
Fast Mag 1 lowers your mag size from 100 to 75, but this is worth the loss in ammo thanks to improves to reload quickness, ADS speed, and Sprint-to-Fire speed, with Commando Rear Grip also boosting those stats.
Finally, the Rapid Fire mod will increase your fire rate, allowing you to fire more bullets faster, and take down your enemies quicker.
Best Perks, Equipment & Combat Specialty for XMG loadout
Enforcer is the best all-around Combat Speciality in Black Ops 6, with it providing a buff to movement speed and health regen after every kill. The movement buffs are particularly useful with the XMG, as they help mitigate its low mobility stats.
To get these benefits, you’ll need the following perks and equipment:

- Perk 4: Flak Jacket

Perk Greed is a fantastic wildcard that lets you use an extra perk for free. You’ll want to use this extra slot on Flak Jacket, which reduces incoming explosive and fire damage, improving your survivability.

As for your other perks, we recommend going with Assassin, Gung-Ho, and Double Time, which then unlocks the Enforcer specialty. Assassin will mark enemies who are on a killstreak to make it easier for you to find them, while Gung-Ho reduces any movement penalties while reloading. Double Time increases your Tactical Sprint duration, while Enforcer gives you a temporary health regeneration and movement speed buff when you kill an opponent.
A Frag is a classic yet effective option in the lethal slot, as it can be cooked to explode at just the right moment. Meanwhile, a Stim Shot is great for situations where you are under pressure and need to heal up quickly. Last but not least, a Trophy System lets you lock down an area by destroying enemy projectiles, which is perfect in objective modes like Hardpoint.

Where is the XMG in the BO6 meta?
The XMG sits just outside the top-tier of Black Ops 6’s meta, but is still a strong option and probably the best LMG in the game right now.
With a 1.98% pick rate according to WZStats.gg, it’s a long way behind the KSV SMG, which is the game’s most popular weapon with a 7.94% pick rate. In terms of long-range weapons, it’s lagging behind too, with the AS VAL leading the way with 7.5%.
How to unlock XMG in Black Ops 6
The XMG is unlocked once you reach Level 13. This means you will have to play for a bit before you get your hands on it, but you won’t need to wait until you max out your levels to use it.
Best alternatives to the XMG
If you want to use an LMG but the XMG just isn’t doing it for you, then we recommend trying out the PU-21, which is similar in terms of recoil and TTK.
If LMGs aren’t your thing and you want a little more mobility, then the AS VAL is well worth your time, and the AK-74 and XM4 are two good assault rifles that could fulfill your needs.
