The Call of Duty League is officially underway, and players are competing at the highest level for money, pride and bragging rights. But who is the best player in the game?

Alongside huge veteran names such as Seth ‘Scump’ Abner and Ian ‘Crimsix’ Porter, there is a wide selection of young talent just looking to prove that they’re the best in the world. The likes of Dylan ‘Dylan’ Henderson and Chris ‘Simp’ Lehr were dominant towards the end of last season, but has that continued in Modern Warfare?

At CDL Launch Weekend in Minnesota, Dexerto spoke with a bunch of the pro players to ask them one simple question: who is the best in the game?

Call of Duty League
There’s only been one event so far, but pros seem pretty sure on who the best player in the game is.

Across eleven different pro players, the results were almost unanimous, with Atlanta FaZe’s Tyler ‘Abezy’ Pharris being tipped as the best in the game by seven of the group asked. Chicago Huntsmen’s Scump said that he’s “nuts,” and that some of what he does is “just disgusting.”

This sentiment was echoed by the likes of Dillon ‘Attach’ Price and teammate Simp, who were singing the praises of Abezy, who only went pro at the beginning of the Black Ops 4 season.

Elsewhere, Matthew ‘FormaL’ Piper backed his Hunstmen teammates Peirce ‘Gunless’ Hillman and Alec ‘Arcitys’ Sanderson, describing their insane natural talent and knowledge of the game as “disgusting.”

Abezy became a world champion in 2019, his first year of competing.

Abezy’s long-time teammate Simp also got a few mentions for best player in the game by the likes of Paris Legion’s Matt ‘KiSMET’ Tinsley and Abezy himself, who was quick to gas up his Atlanta teammate.

There were two other names mentioned among the best – Adam ‘Assault’ Garcia of the Minnesota Røkkr said that teammate Adam ‘GodRX’ Brown is the best, while London Royal Ravens’ Jordan ‘Jurd’ Crowley bestowed the honor upon his teammate Dylan.

It’s still early days, so a lot could change, but it seems that for now everybody is playing catch-up with Abezy and his Atlanta FaZe side.
