The Call of Duty: Vanguard Beta is fast-approaching and players are excited for the Multiplayer reveal on September 7. While waiting to jump into the new title, Sledgehammer Games have announced the maps, modes, fixes, and more that will be available.
The Vanguard Beta will be available for PlayStation players on September 10, 2021, before being released to everyone else on September 16.
Players will be able to take on five different maps and six game modes, while trying out tons of weapons and leveling up. While the beta will be active for two weekends, players will see new content come in as time progresses.
Also, they will be fixing issues that players reported during the Alpha, such as audio tuning and visual updates.
Here is everything you need to know about the Vanguard Beta.
Vanguard Beta: Maps & Modes
CoD Vanguard is going to have 16 core multiplayer maps at the launch of the game and the beta will feature five of those. Here is a list of the maps:
- Champion Hill
- Hotel Royal
- Gavutu
- Red Star
- Eagle’s Nest (weekend 2)
While we have already seen Champion Hill, players will now be able to jump into four other maps with three of them coming out on the first weekend of the beta. On top of this, there will be six different game modes available.
Fan-favorite modes, like Team Deathmatch and Domination, will return, alongside a new game mode, Patrol. Here are all the game modes that will be available in the beta:
- Champion Hill (Solos, Duos, Trios)
- Team Deathmatch
- Domination
- Kill Confirmed
- Patrol (Kicking off Saturday of Weekend 1)
- Search and Destroy (Weekend 2)
Patrol is a new game mode that is similar to Hardpoint. The mode is described as an “objective-based mode” where players fight for points in a scoring zone that is moving around the map. From the short description, fans can expect a game mode that plays similar to the pace of Hardpoint.
Vanguard Beta: Weapons & Combat Pacing
While Champion Hill will still be available for the Beta, players will also have access to the Gunsmith of Vanguard. No weapons have been confirmed, but players can expect the same weapons from the Champion Hill mode and possibly the addition of others.
Guns can be ranked up to level 30, so this means you can unlock different attachments on weapons and try them out. However, there has not been an official player level cap released yet. Also, PlayStation players will be granted 12 custom loadout slots while others will only get 10.
Another new feature in Vanguard is Combat Pacing. This allows players to pick the lobby size of their games. This features three different options which are listed below
- Tactical: These are the lobbies that franchise veterans know well. This is the experience that you’re used to with classic Call of Duty combat timing. Tactical Combat Pacing is always 6v6.
- Assault: Balanced combat pacing that gives you enough room to breathe and a lot of targets to kill. In Beta Weekend 1, player counts will vary between 20-28 players.
- Blitz: High-action lobbies where the intensity is cranked up to frenetic levels. Prepare for plenty of combat when choosing to join a Blitz. In Beta Weekend 1, player counts will vary between 28-48 players.
Players can pick anywhere from classic 6v6 up to 24v24. This creates a whole new level of chaos on the WW2 battlefield.
Vanguard fixes from Alpha to Beta
While there were many known issues in the Alpha, such as graphics, audio, and spawn points, Sledgehammer Games is fixing some of those issues ahead of the beta.
Players complained about not being able to see when being shot at, saying the blood on the screen made it too dark. In the beta, they have changed that, “help maintain visibility” while taking damage.
Another huge issue was the lack of footstep volume, which is also being changed. Non-player footstep noises have been increased while non-player gunfire have been decreased.
The team also went ahead and fixed spawn issues in Champion Hill to make them more “logical.”
