After much anticipation, Modern Warfare’s battle royale is confirmed, with Call of Duty: Warzone introducing an in-game currency, unlike anything we’ve seen in the genre before. How will it work and what can you buy? Here’s everything you need to know.
The highly anticipated Call of Duty: Warzone battle royale has officially been announced, and features an in-game economy system that will be pivotal to your team’s success — from dictating respawns to buying killstreaks, cash runs through Warzone’s veins.
Being the master of coin will be vital if you hope to secure victories in Call of Duty: Warzone, so let’s find out exactly what role cash will play in Warzone.
Call of Duty: Warzone: Buy Stations
Every player will enter every match with $0 in their kitty. As players begin to loot for weapons and equipment, there will be piles of cash lying around the map, ready for combatants to grab.
Each stack of cash will hold different quantities, depending on the rarity of the loot zone, so scavenging as much cash as possible will be essential during the early stages of the game.
As mentioned earlier, Warzone revolves around its in-game currency system, which will allow players to purchase items from Buy Stations — which are dotted all around the map.
Buy Stations are visible on the map, and a player’s nearest station can be marked for convenience. The cash which players gather around the map can be used at any Buy Station to purchase items, from equipment to killstreaks.

Call of Duty: Warzone: Respawning
Players will need to be strategic on how they spend their cash (i.e., whether to stock up on equipment, or whether to save up for a killstreak or a potential downed teammate later down the line).
As with most items in Warzone, players can share cash between their squad by dropping a certain portion of their stack of cash. This adds another strategic element to Warzone, as a team can strategically pool their cash together to purchase a killstreak for a potential endgame scenario.
Not only will Buy Stations facilitate the ability to purchase essential equipment, but they will also allow players to buy back downed allies if they fail to make it through the Gulag — where eliminated players go head-to-head in a Cage Match style battle to earn their respawn back into the Warzone.
Call of Duty: Warzone: Killstreaks
As you may have gathered, players cannot earn killstreaks via the conventional way of accruing kills in multiplayer. Streaks are purchased via Buy Stations or (very rarely) found while looting.
In terms of the killstreaks that are available to players, they will operate in a similar capacity to Call of Duty’s multiplayer. So staple streaks like a UAV system and Precision Airstrikes will still be available, and as the lethality of each streak increases, so will the cost at each Buy Station.
So regardless of your strategy, you will need to learn how to manage your cash wisely otherwise you and your team could come up short towards the endgame of Warzone matches.
