One of Warzone’s overlooked LMGs is set to be meta after a surprise buff, however, one specific attachment makes it viable.
At times, the Warzone meta has been dominated by just one specific weapon, but that hasn’t been the case across Season 1 Reloaded and Season 2, as the meta is in its most diverse state ever.
There are, of course, standout options like the SVA 545, MTZ-762, BP50, and the Striker 9, with the latter being changed again in the February 13 update. The Striker had it’s some of its damage ranges increased, but that also came with some nerfs to recoil – especially as its horizontal recoil has been increased by almost 70%.
The SMG was also joined by the TAQ Evolvere in the surprise buff, with the LMG having its damage increased across the board. However, it is the 556 ammo type that really helps the TAQ thrive after the buff, especially if you want to use it in the mid-range.

Warzone guru WhosImmortal highlighted the LMG’s buffs shortly after the patch, praising the 556 ammo type for making the LMG “unique” compared to the other options.

“I mean, this thing goes crazy. This fire rate is nuts and this turns it into a lot more of a close to mid-range style weapon here. It (556 rounds) kills the range a lot here, but it goes crazy in the fire rate, general visual recoil is easier here,” the YouTuber said, noting that fellow stats guru JGOD called the LMG’s TTK “a little nuts” after the buff.
He also praised the TAQ’s strafe speed and control, adding that it barely has any recoil to go along with the increased power.
- Muzzle: Casus Break
- Barrel: LRF Righteous long barrel
- Underbarrel: Hound-96 Grip
- Magazine: 100-round 556 Belt
- Stock: Rampart Heavy Stock
As noted, the 556 ammo is the stronger option than the 762 rounds, with the latter being called “clunky” by WhosImmortal.
If the devs have overturned the TAQ then the LMG could see some nerfs before long. But, for now, its a lot of fun to use and clearly meta.
