Despite speculation that Loadout Drops would not feature in Warzone 2, the feature is indeed in the game — but not exactly how they were in the original Warzone. Here’s what changed, and how you can get one.

In September, fans got their first glimpse of Warzone 2 gameplay during Call of Duty Next. Loadout Drops were controversially removed from the playtest, outraging the CoD community.

Activision then backtracked from its initial decision, confirming loadouts would be back on the menu.

Loadout Drops returned for Warzone 2, but with a fresh coat of paint. Lets’s jump right into what’s different this time around.

Warzone Loadout DropAfter some initial doubts, Loadout Drops return for Warzone 2 after all.

How do Loadout drops work in Warzone 2?

Having the right weapons equipped for different situations was essential in the original Warzone experience. Players could purchase multiple Loadout Drops during a match, mixing and matching weapons.

At launch, the main change in Warzone 2 was that Loadout Drops could no longer be purchased from a Buy Station.

Instead, Buy Stations previously only contained Primary Weapons from a player’s Loadouts. Loadouts, complete with perks and the rest of the class setup, were then only available as a drop from the sky later in the match. This has now been changed so that loadouts can be purchased from buy stations.

Can you buy loadouts in Warzone 2?

Yes, as of December 16, loadouts are now available to purchase at buy stations in Warzone 2.

However, the price of the loadout drop will change depending on what playlist you are in.

Loadout drop cost in Warzone 2

  • Solos: $8,000
  • Duos: $16,000
  • Trios: $24,000
  • Quads: $32,000

If you don’t have the cash, then there are two other methods of acquiring a loadout in Warzone 2:

  1. World Loadout Drops: Loadout Drops randomly drop between the second and sixth circle collapses as part of an in-game event. It’s worth noting that these aren’t the same as in Warzone 1: instead, there are only a few across the map, and they only have limited use. This means that if you don’t get to the Drop fairly quickly, you’re unlikely to actually get your loadout
  2. Clearing out a Stronghold: By clearing out a Stronghold, you can earn yourself and your team a Loadout Drop, which is especially helpful as these open after the first circle.
    • If you’re the first team to clear a Stronghold, you’ll also gain access to a Black Site, from which you can earn a blueprint as well as a second Loadout, should you clear it.

  3. Finally, while it’s not exactly a Loadout Drop, you can also buy your loadout weapons for $5000 each, which is helpful if you’ve not managed to get to a Drop but need your specific guns.
