Season 2’s new ZRG 20mm sniper rifle is now live in both Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone, and we’ve got everything you need to unlock it.
At the launch of Treyarch’s latest title, there were just three Sniper Rifles at your disposal. After almost five months though, a fourth one has finally been added.
The ZRG 20mm was unveiled as part of the Season 2 roadmap back in February. Whether you’re a Warzone player or just jumping into some casual BOCW multiplayer, the gun will be available across both titles.
ZRG 20mm challenge in Black Ops Cold War & Warzone
No different from a vast majority of recent weapons in Call of Duty, this new sniper needs to be earned. In order to unlock it, there’s a specific task at hand: earn 2 longshot medals in 10 different matches while using sniper rifles.
Longshot medals shouldn’t be much of a challenge if you’re playing the right way. Perhaps the simplest means of ticking this one-off is to jump into a Hardcore playlist. Pesky hitmarkers won’t bother you here as every single shot will guarantee one-hit kills. Line up your sniper from across the map and you’ll be knocking down two foes per game with ease.
If you’re sticking exclusively to Warzone, try playing in a respawn-friendly mode like Plunder or Rebirth Island Resurgence, rather than a traditional battle royale playlist. This will save you time loading into a new lobby with each attempt.

Alternatively, of course, you always have the option of unlocking the gun by purchasing a cosmetic bundle for it, in this case, the Jackpot Sniper bundle, which comes with the Big Shot blueprint for the ZRG. If this bundle is no longer available in the shop, you can always search for it by looking through the ZRG’s blueprints in the armory.
ZRG 20mm sniper rifle details
According to Treyarch’s official description, the ZRG is a “bolt action sniper rifle with faster bullet velocity and slower fire rate, dealing higher damage to vehicles and 1-shot kill to the head, shoulder, torso, and stomach.”
Of course, as with every other Cold War gun, this sniper’s attachments vary between multiplayer and Warzone in terms of effect, so make sure to keep note of that when building classes with it for the two games.
