Infinity Ward have released the first-ever Community Update for Modern Warfare detailing what’s coming soon to the game, including a 3v3 Gunfight mode, more loadouts, fixes for serious glitches, and more.
On January 5, Infinity Ward Art Director Joel Emslie admitted that they were looking into new and improved avenues of communication between the developers and players.
Just a few days later, on January 10, IW acted on that promise with the release of their first Community Update for Modern Warfare, highlighting some of the new playlists and features coming to the game.
In addition, they’ve also launched an official Trello page that features all of the issues currently plaguing the game, and how far the developers are in the process of finding and implementing fixes for them.
A full breakdown of this January 10 Community Update can be found below, including all upcoming new content, known issues being worked on, and a set schedule for when players can expect communication.
What’s coming next in Modern Warfare?
One of the first things that Infinity Ward will be adding is a 3v3 version of Gunfight. The base variant of the mode, of course, is 2v2, and now that the 1v1 version was recently added in the January 7 playlist update, fans can expect the 3v3 to come soon.
Speaking of Gunfight, the fan-favorite Gunfight Tournament will be brought back soon after its beta version was briefly made available in November. IW will add the tournaments back once they’ve “squashed a few bugs and added in new rewards.”

Players who are not content with having just five loadouts in multiplayer are in for good news as additional loadouts are coming soon. There will also be more 2XP, 2X Weapon XP, and 2X Tier promo events held in-game.
“That’s just a taste of things we’re working on, so keep an eye out for these and more in future updates,” Infinity Ward wrote.
Known issues being investigated in Modern Warfare
No one can deny that Modern Warfare has had its share of bugs, glitches, and exploits since being released on October 25.
The developers marked a few of the issues they’re currently investigating and looking to fix, so players should expect to see them patched in the upcoming updates:
- Lighting flickering on various maps
- Mission collision on containers on Cargo
- Platinum skins not unlocking properly
- Out of map exploits in Ground War
- Platinum and Damascus camos glare while ADS
Weekly communication schedule
In order to improve the consistency of their communication with players, Infinity Ward released a weekly schedule for when fans can expect announcements and new information.
- Tuesday – a playlist update will be released mixing up the game modes available in multiplayer
- Thursdays – new developer diary entry and/or behind the scenes blog
- Fridays – new Community Update, much like this January 10 one, in which IW will detail exactly what’s being worked on and where the game is headed.
This is all, of course, in addition to patch notes that will be released every time a new update or patch is rolled out.
