Call of Duty developers Infinity Ward have hinted at more changes coming to Warzone battle royale in Modern Warfare Season 3, including an overhaul to ground loot as well as some new modes
On April 7, Infinity Ward rolled out new details on what’s to come in Season 3 for the battle royale component to Modern Warfare’s ecosystem, including both new content and changes.
Several new modes and playlists will be introduced throughout the new season, but that’s not all – the developers plan on making some major adjustments to the default loot that can be found on the Verdansk map.
New modes and playlists
IW revealed that they plan on mixing up Warzone’s formula with more playlists for players to choose from, in addition to Solos, Trios, the brand new Quads, Plunder, and Blood Money that are all in the game already.
These new modes, which fans can expect to be sprinkled throughout the weeks to come, will be themed around specific kinds of guns, so players will have to conform to the limited variety in order to survive.
“During the season, expect to see more modes and playlists that change the loot pool to specific weapon types, and high action modes such as ‘Scopes and Scatter Guns’ (only sniper rifles & shotguns), in addition to other surprises,” the developers wrote.
Ground loot overhaul
Default items and weapons found on the floor and in chests are an integral part of Warzone, even with the fact that a lot of players opt to buy their own Loadout Drops once they have the requisite $8,500 in hand.

In order to freshen things up, Infinity Ward will be tweaking what kind of gear will be available in Season 3, including the addition of silenced and non-silenced gun variants, and the introduction of “new weapons and blueprints in Supply Boxes and ground loot.”
The idea is to inject variety into this aspect of the game and allow players to adopt various play-styles depending on what they come across while looting, including “that final ‘guns blazing’ shootout at the end” of matches.
This update is expected to launch on Wednesday, April 8, at 11 PM PT (April 7) / 2 AM ET / 7 AM BST.
