New information has appeared online about the status of OpTic Gaming’s Call of Duty pro team, and their plans moving forward into the upcoming Black Ops 4 competitive season.
Jacob ‘Maelk’ Toft-Anderson, the Vice President of Esports at OpTic’s parent company Infinite, has revealed that up to three new players could be added to the team’s CoD roster before the start of the next season.
In an opening statement for a Q&A session on September 12, Maelk announced that the org had finalized “as much as three transfers,” but was not willing to divulge who they were for until next season’s format is revealed.
As for Call of Duty, we are waiting for the announcement by Activision on September 19th. I can confirm that we have finalized as much as three transfers, but other than that you will have to wait until we know what the format of the season is. In the meantime I suggest you all tune into the streams of our current players and enjoy the show of OpTic and friends.
Details about the upcoming CWL season are set to be revealed by Activision on September 19, and the main question everyone is asking is whether the format will remain 4v4 or be changed to 5v5.

As a result, many organizations, such as OpTic, are not willing to formally announce any roster changes until the competitive format is revealed.
However, the fact that OpTic have “finalized as much as three transfers” is major news in and of itself, considering that their roster currently has three active players after the departure of Sam ‘Octane’ Larew.
This means that at least one more player could be on his way out, with many speculating that it would be Anthony ‘Methodz’ Zinni, who joined the team halfway through the WWII season.
