Popular Twitch streamer Nick ‘NICKMERCS’ Kolcheff has officially declared that the Bruen Mk9 LMG is “back” in Warzone, revealing his loadout for the gun to replace popular assault rifles like the Kilo or M13.

Introduced in Season 3, the Bruen MK9 light machine gun was just about everyone’s choice of primary weapon in the early days of Warzone. Players were grinding the multiplayer, throwing down smoke grenades and trying to pick up kills to unlock the gun.
In recent months, though, the Bruen has fallen out of favor, with players instead opting for increased magazines in low-recoil assault rifles such as the Grau, M13 or Kilo 141.
That said, the Bruen could be enjoying somewhat of a resurgence, with NICKMERCS showing off his new build for the weapon which, paired with an R9 Dragon’s Breath shotgun, could easily be used to dominate in Verdansk.
The Warzone meta has changed a lot since the Bruen was popular, so Nick has had to cater his loadout to said changes, making a few alterations to the loadout he was using back in June.

Here’s the class setup Nick thinks could bring the Bruen back into the Warzone meta:
- Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor
- Barrel: XKR Summit 26.8”
- Optic: VLK 3.0x Optic
- Underbarrel: Commando Foregrip
- Ammunition: 60 Round Mags
For the most part, this Bruen loadout appeals to what made assault rifles more popular in recent months. The VLK optic has become a must-have for any medium to long-range engagement, while sticking an underbarrel on there reduces the gun’s recoil even further, while still having the power of an LMG at your disposal.
Now that Nick has proclaimed it, and shown off his class, you can probably expect to see an upsurge of players giving it a shot themselves.
If you’re looking to switch from the Kilo to something different, it might be worth testing out the Bruen once again, because it’s still an incredible gun and more than capable of guiding you to wins.
