Nick ‘NICKMERCS’ Kolcheff made his grand return to Call of Duty battle royale hit Warzone on February 7 with the Season 2 update, and while it was very highly anticipated for him and his legion of fans, the first game didn’t quite go as well as he might have hoped.
Nick first started showing progress in his streaming career playing Call of Duty, before Fortnite came out and he absolutely blew up.
Since then, he became the biggest Warzone streamer before a switch to Apex Legends, in which he has been competing and attempting to reach the pro ranks.
While he regularly came back to Warzone, things came to a head in 2023 when he and Tim ‘TimTheTatman’ Betar got their own Operator skins in the game — which were quickly withdrawn after a controversial tweet from Nick that saw him labelled as “homophobic” by some.
After several months away from the game now, Nick made his comeback for the release of Ranked Resurgence on the return of the Fortune’s Keep map, and it didn’t start brilliantly.

Dropping into his first match back, Nick landed in and fumbled around trying to pick up the weapon he found, before an opponent dropped in on him and instantly melted him.
He then started trying to figure out the Gulag, throwing Molotovs and getting some early shots on his opponent, before getting absolutely spun on and sent back to the Spectator cam on his disappointed teammate.
The streamer was left speechless while his chat laughed at the series of comedic errors as he struggled to shake off the rust.
Things did turn for Nick eventually and he started to find his form once again after a while, just taking a little bit of time to settle in.
