The CoDCast series has returned, hosted by former pro player turned analyst Anthony ‘NAMELESS’ Wheeler, and to kick off Black Ops 4, the guest debated the best player in the game following CWL Vegas.
OpTic Gaming’s Brandon ‘Dashy’ Otell is many fans’ pick, thanks to an incredible showing at Vegas that earned him the highest overall K/D and the MVP trophy.
However, just because it’s what many fans believe, doesn’t mean the pro players agree, after all OpTic Gaming players can often be rated higher by due to fan allegiances.
NAMELESS, hosting the show, kicked off the discussion by explaining that he believes the overall best player to be Luminosity’s Peirce ‘Gunless’ Hillman, saying it was “undeniable” – and his fellow analyst Jon ‘Pacman’ Tucker, agreed.
However, Splyce’s Donovan ‘Temp’ Laroda disagreed, putting Dashy at number one, while Chris ‘Parasite’ Duarte contested “respawn player alone, Gunless is the best player in respawn.”
However, 100 Thieves’ Austin ‘SlasheR’ Liddicoat had another player in mind entirely: “I actually put [Temp] is number one from Vegas – and you know I don’t gas Don very often.

Gunless was certainly the standout player for Luminosity, and Temp for Splyce, but both teams fell short in the latter stages of the tournament, while OpTic went on to secure the win – and Dashy the MVP.
The main claim to the throne for Dashy is not actually the event win or his MVP, but his remarkable K/D ratio for the event, averaging a 1.44 overall, followed by eUnited’s Alec ‘Arcitys’ Sanderson with a 1.41.
Gunless came in 3rd with a 1.31, and Temp 5th with a 1.28 – Lightning Pandas player Alex ‘Alexx’ Carpenter was 4th overall in K/D with a 1.35.
But, K/D ratio’s can only tell half the story, and typically players with a stronger overall team will end with a higher ratio too, meaning Gunless’ 1.31 may be more impressive than Dashy’s 1.44, considering their respective team performances.
