Professional Call of Duty teams UYU and Midnight Esports have been eliminated from the CWL Championship 2019 on day two of pool play.
While not considered to be among the top echelon of teams in Call of Duty esports, both UYU and Midnight Esports were in the CWL Pro League this year for a reason.
Thus, coming into CoD Champs 2019, both were seeded as the second best team within Pools E and F respectively, and favored to be one of the two teams that would advance to the bracket stage.
However, both sides saw their time at the tournament come to an abrupt end, as they ended up finishing in third place after the three group matches were completed.

For Midnight, their 3-1 loss to 100 Thieves meant they would finish with a record of 1-2, not good enough to surpass amateur team Sicario Gaming for the second spot in Pool F.

UYU were eliminated by Team Singularity, by far the biggest surprise of the tournament when it comes to amateur teams overachieving.
Down 0-2, UYU were able to force a game five that would decide their fate, but their opponents proved to be too strong and skillful in the end, as they’ve done in all three of their matches.

The result was a rather heartbreaking one for the pro team, considering that in their previous match against Luminosity Gaming, they lost on a 1v1 situation in the 11th round of game five, when Methodz was unable to eliminated LG’s Skyz.
The result not only kept LG in the game, but also put UYU in a must-win situation going into the final match, which ended up not going the way they would have hoped.
Now, thanks to this incredible clutch by Skyz and Singularity’s upset victory, LG will finish second in the group, surviving by just the skin of their teeth to advance to bracket play.
WHAT WAS THAT!!! :scream::scream::scream:@Luminosity survive one of the craziest round 11s ever thanks to a @CesarSkyz 1v2, they are still fighting at Champs!#CWLPS4 | #CWLChamps pic.twitter.com/uloBu3f0Ia
