Professional Call of Duty player, Austin ‘SlasheR’ Liddicoat, has called out some of his fellow CWL pros for ‘baiting’ their teammates to have better in-game stats, rather than playing just for the win.
It’s not often easy to determine just how good a player is in an action packed game of competitive Call of Duty, especially in modes such as Hardpoint, so fans and analysts often refer to a player’s statistics, such as their Kill/Death ratio, to get a better read on their in-game performances.
One bad habit, perhaps more common among the amateur players, is focusing moreso on their individual K/D ratio, using their teammates as ‘bait’ (waiting for teammates to push first, to pick up easy trades), instead of playing the objective normally, which can hold teams back from their full potential.
Following some of the final matches of the CWL pro league, 2016 Call of Duty World Champion SlasheR voiced his opinion that some of his fellow pro players are guilty of “baiting their team.”
He also suggested that many fans appear oblivious to this, praising said players for their impressive individual scorelines, not realizing that it could be at the expense of the team’s performance.

Although he did not specify which of the pro players he was referring to specifically, SlasheR criticized fans for defending the players who were prone to ‘baiting’, saying, “I still see CoD fans think it’s ok that someone is hard baiting their team like it’s their job lol”

eUnited star, Preston ‘Prestinni’ Sanderson, seemed to share the same sentiment as SlasheR on players baiting their team, as he jokingly mocked the “stat players”.

“Those are the best players though?” Prestinni asked, with just a hint of sarcasm. “Most skilled. Most selfless. Play the most proper CoD. They’re the reason they win games bro. Stat players do it all man. We know this.”
SlasheR followed up by explaining that it requires strong team synergy and good in-game stats to win games consistently and claimed that the final year before franchising has seen even more players looking to boost their K/D: “The people who put up the stats and play as a team win games. This year more than ever I see people legit playing for a player card number.”

SlasheR’s teammate on 100 Thieves, Ian ‘Enable’ Wyatt also chimed in, jokingly claiming that SlasheR himself was among those guilty of baiting, explaining, “That’s why I’m trying to get you to get a lil more pep in your step.”

Although Enable was likely joking, it appears as if the 100 Thieves squad have figured out what works in Black Ops 4, as they have already claimed two trophies this year going back-to-back in CWL London and Anaheim.
