Popular NRG streamer and Team Summertime founder Davis ‘Hitch’ Edwards hosted yet another throwback tournament on Modern Warfare 2, featuring plenty of top Call of Duty stars. We’ve got everything you need to catch up on the action.
With Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s competitive season coming to a close, many fans are patiently waiting for the release of Black Ops Cold War, following the success of the Alpha on September 18.
While the Call of Duty League and many other tournaments have slowed down in Modern Warfare following the conclusion of the CDL Playoffs, Hitch decided to fill the time with competitive action on a classic Call of Duty title.
While he has hosted numerous throwback tournaments before, on games like Black Ops 2 and, more recently, Black Ops 4, this time around he decided on bringing back Modern Warfare 2 for the top pros and personalities to compete on. This tournament was the first in the Elgato Off-Season Series that was recently announced.
MW2 Throwback Tournament Recap
With many of the former Call of Duty pros making their return for the throwback event, the tournament saw plenty of interesting clashes between the new and old players.
However, it was the roster of Happy, SlasheR, Classic, and Temp that proved themselves on the classic title and came away with the victory, in the end, winning the first of the Elgato Off-Season Series tournaments.
They defeated the likes of Team Summertime and Scump in an impressive winner’s bracket run before completing the 3-0 sweep against Clayster’s squad in the grand final.
