CWL Pro League roster led by Michael ‘SpaceLy’ Schmale has has officially announced that they will represent a new entrant to the Call of Duty scene for the 2019 season.
The CWL Pro League kicks off in less than a week on February 4 and new organizations are starting to announce the acquisition of new rosters.
Team Space has been teasing their official announcement for some weeks, and although the reveal was somewhat spoiled by Call of Duty’s website jumping the gun, fans are excited to see a new name enter CoD esports.
Gen.G, best known for their League of Legends success and their Overwatch League franchise, Seoul Dynasty, confirmed the signing of Team Space on January 31.
Looks like the secret is out…

Team Space was listed on the Call of Duty website as Gen.G prior to the announcement, so the official reveal was expected soon after.
SpaceLy also revealed that they were actually in talks with FaZe Clan prior to signing with Gen.G, simply stating that “things didn’t go through.”
He also said the reason it took them so long to sign with an org after CWL Vegas was “security” since he’s seen so many other rosters end up in shambles after signing with new orgs.
We were in talks with them. Things didn’t go through.

SpaceLy and co. were one of the hottest teams throughout the entire Black Ops 4 season despite having been without an org for most of it.

They first competed under the Str8 Rippin banner for CWL Vegas where they finished with an impressive 7th-8th overall placing.
That placing allowed the team to move on to the CWL Pro League Qualifier where they were placed in Pool C.
While 100 Thieves and Midnight Esports ended up taking the top two seed in that Pool, SpaceLy and co. finished with a respectable 3-3 record before picking up a trio of wins that secured them a spot in the Pro League.
Gen.G might be a new entrant in the Call of Duty scene, but they are certainly no stranger to esports, having fielded teams in the League of Legends, Overwatch, PUBG, and even Fortnite.
They recently came in seventh on Forbes’ list of the most valuable teams in esports, with the organization being valued at $110 million as of October 2018.
The CWL Pro League kicks off on February 4, with Gen.G slotted into Division A along with Call of Duty powerhouses such as OpTic Gaming and Luminosity.
