Five of top Call of Duty players in the world are putting together a formidable roster to try their hand at competing at the upcoming Gears Pro Circuit event in San Diego.
With Gears New Orleans concluding on July 15th, pro CoD player Donovan “Temp” Laroda was clearly inspired by the event and began reaching out to other players to see if they would join him in competing at the next tournament.
Before the New Orleans grand final, which saw OpTic defeat Echo Fox, the next tournament in the Gears Pro Circuit was announced for September 28th in San Diego.
An international open tournament, the best gears teams from around the world will be in attendance, but as proficient console players already the Pro CoD players may think they have an edge.
Echo Fox player Temp will be joined by Rise Nation’s Daniel “Loony” Loza, Team Kaliber player Kenny “Kenny” Williams and Luminosity’s Johnathan “John” Perez.
The final player, Team Envy’s Cuyler “Huke” Garland, may be the key for the roster however, as he is already proven at the pro level across two console titles, having been very successful in Halo in 2016 – 2017.

It looks like they have finalized their roster for now, but some players who showed interest have been snubbed, including former OpTic player Damon “Karma” Barlow and retired pro player Jon “Pacman” Tucker.

As for qualification, any team can enter the tournament through the open bracket, but are seeded depending on their pro points, similar to the system used in the CWL, as both circuits are operated by MLG.
Of course, none of these players will have any pro points on the Gears circuit and so would enter as a very low seed and would need to make a tough run if they have any hopes of making it out of open bracket.
The 2018 CWL Season will conclude in August with the World Championship, and will pick up again with the release of Black Ops 4 on October 12th. So the tournament on September 28th will fit exactly within the CWL off season.
So, it’s the perfect opportunity for the CoD players to see if they can hold it down in the fiercely competitive Gears of War scene.
