The Call of Duty team that will be based in Toronto, Canada once the esport turns to franchising has announced its General Manager who will be leading the way.
It’s no longer breaking news that Call of Duty esports will be transitioning to a franchised league setup starting next season.
In anticipation of this major change, the organizations that will be involved are making steps towards solidifying their administrative and managerial staff and structure, to establish condition that will draw the best and brightest talent to join their ranks.
CoD Toronto checked off a huge item of priority on August 13, announcing that Dominique “@wi5dom12” Gelineau will be their General Manager to kick off the inaugural campaign.
“WE GOT STAFF,” they tweeted. “It’s our pleasure to introduce Dominique “@wi5dom12″ Gelineau as General Manager of CODToronto! Be sure to give her the warmest of welcomes.”

Although she doesn’t boast any extensive experience in esports, Gelineau is known for her reputable skills in recruitment, which she may put to good use at the CWL Championship 2019 taking place this week in Los Angeles, CA.

“I am so excited to get started building a competitive CoD Toronto team for next season,” she tweeted. “I’m in LA right now for CoD Champs and getting to know our players and support staff. This is a dream job, and I can’t wait to deliver for all Toronto fans.”

Of course, Gelineau may not need to do much recruitment at all, since her organization already employs several prominent players that are very likely to represent Toronto in the new league.
OverActive Media, who own the slot, are also the parent company of Splyce, one of the top teams in the CWL, and some of the players on their roster are already slated to make the transition.

Toronto is one of seven confirmed host cities for next season’s franchised league, which will feature a home-and-away format in its inaugural campaign.
The other host sites are Atlanta, Dallas, New York, Paris, Los Angeles, and Minnesota, and Activision have already announced that they plan on having at least eight cities for the first season.
