Treyarch confirms Black Ops 6 Zombies Liberty Falls and HUD changes

Some Black Ops 6 Zombie fans were disappointed by what they saw at CoD NEXT, so Treyarch listened to community feedback and announced a few changes.

Call of Duty fans loved what they saw from the first Liberty Falls cinematic trailer, calling the new Zombies map “peak.” However, once they saw official gameplay at CoD NEXT on Aug. 28, fans feared that Black Ops 6 “ruined” the game mode instead.

Some players argued that the map looked bland and uninteresting. In addition, they pointed out that armor, the ability to use loadouts from the start of a match, and exfils cater more to casual players.

Fans also complained about the heads-up display (HUD) showing enemy health bars and other on-screen clutter that takes away from the experience. The HUD is fully customizable, but that didn’t ease concerns.

CharlieIntel shared a list of HUD changes coming to Zombies at launch.

Here are all of the HUD changes.

  • Character portraits added to the lower-left corner by default
  • General alignment and color adjustments made across the entire HUD
  • Perk icons now positioned closer together
  • Zombies-specific widgets added for certain in-game actions
  • In-game GobbleGum reward animation added
  • Visibility sliders added to allow players to fine-tune or completely disable additional HUD elements, including Score Feed, Medals & Notifications, Minimap Opacity, Weapon & Equipment Information, and more.

In addition, CharlieIntel shared images of the Liberty Falls map changes.

Even if these changes don’t quite reach the mark for everyone, players can always spend most of their time on Terminus instead. Or, the Call of Duty Podcast confirmed another round-based zombies map in Black Ops 6 by the end of the year as another alternative.
