This wouldn’t be the first time the development team removed Rebirth Island. The map was first introduced in 2020 but was removed permanently when Warzone 2 launched on November 16, 2022.
After two years, Raven Software released a remastered version of the iconic map on April 3, 2024, as part of the Season 3 update. Removing it so quickly after finally adding it back will surely ruffle feathers, but it doesn’t go against precedent.
The original Fortune’s Keep lasted only five months before it was entirely removed from the map pool.
As for what other maps fans can expect at the launch of Black Ops 6, leaks suggest that Verdansk was delayed and pushed back because of development complications.
We expect there to be more information about what to expect from Area 99 at CoD Next.
