Much has been made about upcoming Call of Duty 2019 title, expected to be Modern Warfare 4, but just when will Activision and Infinity Ward pull the trigger on announcing their next game?
Call of Duty fans are eagerly awaiting the official announcement about next year’s title – which is reportedly set to be Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. The Modern Warfare part of the CoD franchise is extremely popular, dating back to the release of the original Modern Warfare title in 2007.
The upcoming game has been kept tightly under wraps despite leaks pointing towards everything from the return of a single-player campaign mode, to a potential battle royale mode, and even having Modern Warfare 2 remastered attached.
When will Infinity Ward reveal Modern Warfare 4?
While the hugely successful franchise does switch between developers each year, the recent announcements about the upcoming titles and their respective release dates have all fallen close to each other in recent years – usually coming sometime between the beginning of April and the end of May.
The current game, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 for example, was announced on March 8 and first revealed to fans on May 17. A year earlier, Sledgehammer Games’ Call of Duty WW2 was announced on April 21.

When has Infinity Ward revealed other Call of Duty games?
Infinity Ward’s last iteration of the franchise, Call of Duty Infinite Warfare, was revealed through a teaser on April 30th. Their last game before that, Call of Duty Ghosts, was not revealed until May 21.
So, fans could be looking at anywhere from the closing portion of April to the end of May, if Infinity Ward sticks to a similar announcement period as they have in the past.
While there is still no official announcement date planned for Modern Warfare 4, we are now getting to that time of year where Activision and the developers begin giving fans a look at the future.
The excruciating yearly waiting game is crawling ever so slightly to an end for another year. It won’t be long before we’re doing this all over again for Call of Duty’s 2020 title.
