Now Infinity Ward have confirmed the extension of Modern Warfare’s first season, we look ahead to Season Two and what could be in-store for Call of Duty fans everywhere.
Modern Warfare’s first season brought a plethora of goodies for Call of Duty players. Two new Operators, two brand-new weapons, four additional Spec Ops missions alongside a host of new maps and modes, Infinity Ward most definitely got the ball rolling with their new season-based content model.
Following the announcement of the Season One extension (until February 11), players have been itching to get their hands on next season’s Battle Pass. But what exactly has Infinity Ward got up their sleeve for Season Two?
Season Two release date
With Season One set to end after a 10-week lifespan, it is presumed that there will be a straight swap of the baton — meaning that Season Two should start on Tuesday, February 11 to coincide with the first season’s end.
Since there has been no official word from either Activision or Infinity Ward, the exact time and size of the update are yet to be revealed, although MW patches usually go live around 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET.
Battle Royale in Season Two?
Players have been anticipating the release of a Modern Warfare Battle Royale ever since a data miner leaked the mode from the game files back in November 2019.
According to YouTuber ‘TheGamingRevolution,’ a source from Infinity Ward reportedly suggested that the sought-after game mode had been delayed to coincide with Season One’s end date as it “needs more time” — which would justify the two-week extension.
While leaks suggest that a Battle Royale could indeed be on the cards in the forthcoming season, no official information has surfaced on how close the game mode is to completion. Heck, perhaps the strings of code are all a ruse to steer data miners away from a bigger picture altogether?
Season Two Battle Pass
As per Modern Warfare’s first season, there will likely be one free and one paid iteration of the Season Two Battle Pass.

There will be over 100-tiers worth of content for players grinding through the paid version, which will cost players 1,000 COD Points.
As per TheGamingRevolution’s video and various in-game easter eggs, Ghost, the iconic character from the MW series, looks set to be added as an Operator at some point during Season Two.
Additional leaked content in the strings of the game files includes two new game modes (One in the Chamber and All of Nothing) alongside the blueprints of what looks like a Ballistic Knife.

Season One welcomed plenty of new maps, including some golden oldies from the original Modern Warfare. A previous leak uncovered a shed load of maps in the game files.
