Ranked Play hits Black Ops 6 earlier than ever before, so here’s everything we know about when the mode arrives and what you can expect.
Ranked Play scratches the competitive itch for players looking for more than a standard public match. The mode uses the Call of Duty League ruleset, which restricts certain guns, equipment, and Scorestreaks. Additionally, the mode uses the same 4v4 format, pool of maps, and game modes the pros play on.
Players climb the ranks and earn new Skill Divisions by winning matches to earn a spot in the illustrious Top 250. At the end of each season, rewards are given out based on which division you finish in.
For Modern Warfare 3, the game mode launched as part of the Season 1 Reloaded update on January 17 but Black Ops 6 will release the game mode even earlier.
Black Ops 6 Ranked Play release
Ranked Play is coming to Black Ops 6 “at the start of” Season 1, which officially begins on Nov. 14. Treyarch did not confirm how far into Season 1 the game mode will be added.
This is the earliest Ranked Play has ever arrived, as it usually comes a couple of months later in January or February.

What to expect from BO6 Ranked Play
We expect Black Ops 6 Ranked Play to be extremely similar to how it’s worked over the past few years, as Treyarch has been in charge of the mode since Cold War.
This would see players grind from Bronze to Irredescent playing Hardpoint, Search & Destroy, and Control on the same maps and using the same weapons as the Call of Duty League. There will be rewards to earn depending on performance, such as winning 100 games across the season.
We’ll probably need to wait and see which maps and weapons the CDL decides to use before we can know what will be available in Ranked Play, but Treyarch might just pick their own selection for the initial launch.
Warzone Ranked Play has been disabled and is set to return in Season 1 on Urzikstan, but we don’t know when in the season it’ll come.
