Note: This article contains spoilers to the new secret ending of Cyberpunk 2077.
How to get to the secret ending in Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty
To get the secret ending of Phantom Liberty in Cyberpunk 2077, you have to follow certain steps that will then trigger the new conclusion of V’s fate:
- Choose Songbird over Reed towards the end of the second act.
- Wait for some days for Songbird to contact you.
- Complete ‘The Killing Moon’ quest.
- Continue helping Songbird and at one time, Reed will ask you to hand over Songbird in exchange for the cure.
- Take the cure to start the ‘Through Pain to Heaven’ quest. Here you’ll need to wait for Reed to contact you.
- Once Reed contacts you offering the cure, it will mark the start of the Who Wants to Live Forever quest.
- Here, you need to wait on the rooftop of Misty’s Esoterica.
- Get inside the AV and NUSA agents will take you to Langley to perform a procedure to remove the Relic from your head and save your life.
Now this is where things get interesting. As soon as you lose consciousness in the AV, you will see flashes of lights in between and hear echoed voices of several individuals off-screen. This is where the new alternate ending for Cyberpunk 2077’s main story begins.
What happens in the new alternate ending?
The alternate ending is activated during the ‘Things Done Changed’ quest once V’s surgery at the Langley facility has been completed by NUSA. When you open your eyes, you will see Reed walking towards you and sitting directly in front of your bed, where he will explain what transpired during and after the surgery.
Reed then informs you that, even though the surgery was successful and the relic was removed from your head, all of the combat implants and chrome you had installed were removed to save your life. This means that you will only be able to use your personal link and simple coprocessors, and not any combat implants that can kill you instantaneously.
In addition, he discloses that V has been in a coma for two years and that the current year is 2079. After hearing this, V becomes extremely agitated and requests to return to Night City.

Reed offers V a position at Langley and a chance to work for the NUSA, but V declines and insists on returning home. Reed then requests that V contact the person he wishes to visit so he can arrange transportation.
You can then choose to visit Viktor or any other acquaintance on your contact list by calling them. In this instance, however, only Viktor is available. Inform Viktor that you will be returning to town to meet him.
Then, proceed to the door and contact the nurse using the intercom. As soon as you do so, the screen will glitch and transition to a Delamain taxi ride to Watson, where you will meet Viktor. You will travel with Vik’s favorite whisky and receive news from Delamain regarding the overthrow of Arasaka by other corps in Night City.
As soon as you arrive at Vik’s clinic, you notice that the building that formerly housed Misty’s Esoterica is now a Zetatech Ripperdoc clinic and that Viktor is employed by them. Once you encounter Vik, he will examine V’s vitals to determine whether or not you can receive implants.
Vik informs you that you will be unable to regain your implants and will be forced to live a normal human existence. As you exit the clinic and proceed down the alley, you are attacked by two thugs who push you down the stairs.
As soon as you glance up, Misty will be reaching out to pick you up and engage you in a conversation about the good old days. She will also inform V that she is leaving town and that perhaps V should attempt living as a human and working as a Fixer in Night City.
Misty then hugs a now-bald human V and enters a cab from Delamain, but she also tells them not to dwell on the past and to focus on the future. As soon as Misty departs, V walks into the crowd, becomes anonymous, and continues to live as a regular human.
