Festival of the Lost is returning to Destiny 2 in 2023. Here’s what you need to know about the fan-favorite holiday event including its start date, rewards, and the new Eerie Engram focusing system.
Another year means another new Festival of the Lost in Destiny 2. Once again Eva Levante has come to grace us with Halloween cheer, bringing tricks and treats along the way.
Like previous years, Festival of the Lost will reprise the Haunted Sectors, but 2023 hopes to make the experience a little more rewarding.

Destiny 2: Festival of the Lost 2023 start date
Festival of the Lost will start on October 17, 2023. Bungie mentioned in their recent TWID that the Destiny 2 event will be starting next week, which will come with the weekly reset that occurs each Tuesday.
The event will run for three weeks coming to an end on November 7, 2023, disappearing once the weekly reset goes live. This gives Guardians plenty of time to work through those event exclusive rewards
Destiny 2: Festival of the Lost 2023 trailer
Bungie released the Festival of the Lost 2023 trailer on October 17, leading up to the event’s start. This gave players a detailed look at the new armor sets, weapons, and Eerie Engrams available during the holiday event.
Destiny 2: Festival of the Lost Eerie Engrams
A new type of engram that is exclusive to Festival of the Lost 2023. Eerie Engrams can be consumed immediately for loot or used as currency for Hocus Focusing.
These engrams will have a chance to drop upon completing a Haunted Sector, with more challenging Legend-difficulty Haunted Sectors offering a higher drop rate.
Destiny 2: Festival of the Lost Hocus Focusing
Hocus Focusing will allow players to acquire Exotic armor with four focusing categories: Exotic Arms, Legs, Helmet, and Chest. This is in addition to the numerous Legendary Weapons Eerie Engrams can be used to focus too.

Guardians can use Lost Hocus Focusing by visiting Eva Levante at The Tower and using between 500 and 2,500 Candy plus an Eerie Engram for each roll.
Here’s more information on the specifics of focusing Exotic armor using Lost Hocus Focusing:
- Players must own the expansion that the Exotic armor is tied to in order for it to be eligible to drop from Hocus Focusing).
- Players will not need to have acquired the Exotic armor previously for it to be eligible to drop from Hocus Focusing.
- Players who are still missing Exotic armor will have a chance to earn it from Hocus Focusing.
- Players will only receive Exotic armor for the class that they are currently playing while interacting with Hocus Focusing.
Destiny 2: Festival of the Lost Weapons
The only new Destiny 2 weapon being introduced in Festival of the Lost 2023 is the Acosmic Heavy Grenade Launcher. This Void HGL looks promising being able to roll meta perks like Impulse Amplifier, Clown Cartridge, Explosive Light, and Cascade Point.
In addition to Acosmic, the Mechabre Arc Sniper Rifle, Horror Story Stasis Auto Rifle, and Jurassic Green Solar Pulse Rifle will all be reissued with new perks.
Destiny 2: Festival of the Lost Cosmetics
As per usual, Festival of the Lost will come with spooky cosmetics that players can pick up. It’s not yet known how these will be acquired but it will likely be through Silver or Bright Dust. Bungie has shared an image of the armor set available during the event.
With a bunch of rewards on offer during this Halloween season, it’s the perfect time to hop in and start grinding for those perfect rolls, and maybe even pick up a few of the neat cosmetics along the way.
