The new raid Exotic Necrochasm has a catalyst that Destiny 2 players have calculated could take two months to complete.
Bungie released the new reprised Crota’s End raid into Destiny 2 on September, 1. Along with the raid, Necrochasm returned from Destiny 1 as the new raid exotic.
It features classic perks like Cursebringer which triggers Cursed Thrall explosions on Final Blows and Desperation, which increases the Auto Rifle’s rate of fire, stability, and aim assist if the user reloads after proccing Cursebringer.
But not everyone is happy, with some Destiny 2 fans on Reddit being upset with the new Exotic’s catalyst.
How to obtain the Necrochasm catalyst in Destiny 2
To obtain the catalyst, Guardians need to complete two time-trial challenges in the Crota’s End raid.
After going through the necessary steps to begin the challenges, players need to clear both encounters in under 90 seconds. Doing this successfully will reward the Nechrocasm catalyst.

But an official Bungie recently confirmed on a forum that “We can confirm on our side that Oversoul Fragments only drop once per week and per account as a guaranteed drop when completing that raid. Besides that, every encounter has a small drop chance, but it’s not guaranteed.”
Destiny 2 fans are not happy about the Nechrocasm catalyst’s drop rate
One Reddit user complained, “Bungie, please never do this again. Better to just stick with RNG drops at that rate, …there are better options than 1 out of 3 looted runs for, in this case, up to 10 weeks, 20 if we’re only guaranteed 1 drop and the others I’ve personally gotten were just dumb luck.”
This catalyst has put some Guardians off grinding the Necrochasm catalyst: “I just stare at the sun until my eyes can no longer distinguish between the gold of the border and the yellow exotic icon and then pretend it has a gold border. Way faster than grinding for Oversouls and also better for my wellbeing.”
Another Destiny 2 fan said, “My brain is just fine without it. F**k stressing it. It’ll come when it comes but chasing it down is definitely not on the radar.”
