Here are the best classes ranked in Diablo 3 Season 33 as well as the best build you can use in the meta for each of them to slay demons with.
Diablo 3 still has a legion of loyal players even after Diablo 4 was released. While Blizzard is no longer making new content for the game, they are recycling old seasonal gimmicks and have been since Season 31. Now Season 33 is here, the game is once again using the Etheral Memory theme.
Below, we’ve ranked all the different classes in Diablo Season 33, given a breakdown of who they are, where they sit in the meta, and revealed the best build you can use for them. Remember, Diablo 3 is different from Diablo 4 and seasons roll around much slower, meaning the meta also moves at a glacial pace in comparison.
Best classes in Diablo 3 Season 33
Here are the best classes ranked in Diablo 3 for Season 33:
Tier | Class |
---|---|
S | Demon Hunter, Crusader |
A | Monk, Wizard, Barbarian, Necromancer |
B | Witch Doctor |
Since Diablo 3 started recycling seasons and not adding new content, the Demon Hunter and Crusader classes have risen to the top of the meta while the Witch Doctor has remained at the bottom as a B-tier class.
The C-tier no longer exists as most characters are pretty reliable at this stage of Diablo 3’s lifespan. All established builds are effective, just some are still better than others. Due to this, don’t expect the meta to shift particularly quickly in Diablo 3 seasons going forward.
Our tiers explained
Here’s a rundown of how each tier for Diablo 3 breaks down:
- S-tier: The best classes you can currently play as
- A-tier: Very good classes offering a good alternative if the S-tier classes aren’t your favorite
- B-tier: Situations where these characters can perform well are few and far between
Of course, all classes in the current Diablo 3 meta are worthwhile, so if you love playing as a class, don’t be deterred by the meta. Since Diablo 4 came out, Diablo 3 has been generally pretty balanced across all classes.
Best builds in Season 33
Here are the best builds for each class in Diablo 3 Season 33. Bear in mind that these builds factor in both PvE and PvP:
Class | Build |
---|---|
Demon Hunter | Marauder Sentry |
Crusader | AoV Heaven’s Fury |
Monk | Legacy of Dreams |
Wizard | LoD Meteor |
Barbarian | Wrath of the Wastes |
Necromancer | Trag’Oul Death Nova |
Witch Doctor | Arachyr Spiders |
The build variety in Diablo 3 is vast and there is such a thing as a bad build. However, the established builds on the meta are all worth trying.

All class placements explained for Diablo 3 Season 33
Here’s what you need to know about each class in Season 33 of Diablo 3:
Demon Hunter
The Demon Hunter is top of the tree in Season 33 of Diablo 4. The class is a combination of Diablo 1’s Rogue and the Assassin from Diablo 2, preferring to use bows and crossbows to do their damage from a distance.
The class also likes to set traps such as sentry devices to kill demons while they attack from another side. This is why the Marauder Sentry build is the best one this season, and likely will be for a while to come.
Crusader
The first DLC character class to be added to Diablo 3 post-launch, the Crusader is similar to Diablo 2’s Paladin. However, this class favors heavy armor, huge shields, and powerful holy spells to smite their enemies.
The AoV Heaven’s Fury build is the best one for them this season, and one that combines this ability with powerful melee attacks. This is one of the best builds in the whole game and is an excellent choice for Crusader players.

Monk
The Monk is a holy warrior who prefers melee combat and martial arts. However, the class also likes to attach various weapons to their fists to increase the damage they do.
Their Legacy of Dreams build is top of the meta this season and is a hybrid build that allows the Monk to get up close and personal with enemies while remaining fully buffed against damage. While the Monk was top of the meta in previous seasons, they’ve taken a dip since Season 30.
Wizard
The Wizard is the classic elemental caster build in Diablo 3, comparable to the Sorcerer class in other Diablo games. While they’re from a different school of magic, many of their spells are the same.
This season, their LoD Meteor build is top of the tree and is one that makes liberal use of the Meteor spell to crush demons with fiery rocks from the sky. The Wizard has dipped in the meta since Season 30 and there’s no telling when they’ll rise again.
Barbarian
While the Barbarian is lower on the meta than they were in previous seasons, they’re second only to the Crusader when it comes to melee battles.
Their Wrath of the Wastes build is still a versatile and balanced one that allows the class to play to its strengths. In our view, this is the best build you can assemble in the current meta.
Necromancer
When Diablo declared war on life, he accidentally made an enemy of death with the priests of Rathma using their macabre magic against him. The Necromancer is middle of the road in Season 32 when compared to the other classes.
This season, the Necromancer’s best build is the Trag’Oul Death Nova which makes use of the Poison Nova spell to infect enemies while the Necromancer’s undead minions pick their bones.
Witch Doctor
The Witch Doctor is sadly at the bottom of the meta in Season 32, but don’t let that put you off them. Every build this season is still a formidable force post-Season 30.
Their Arachyr Spiders build is still a powerful choice and guaranteed to be one that gives enemies the creeps. It makes use of the Witch Doctor’s Spiders ability and is great for damaging enemies from a distance while supporting minions.
So that’s everything you need to know about the best classes and their builds in Diablo 3 after Season 30 changed everything. Remember to click on our individual class guides for a detailed breakdown of how to craft each build listed above.
