Diablo 4 developers have once more suspended player trading due to a duplication glitch and Blizzard is threatening to ban those who utilize the exploit.
Blizzard previously disabled player trading for a limited time in August amid concerns about a gold and item duplication glitch.
With this exploit, one user could start trading with another player, drop their items/gold in a trade slot, and then forcibly close down the Diablo client.
Upon logging back in, the player who initiated would keep their items while the second person also got to complete the trade on their end. It was a win-win for both parties. Now that Diablo 4 Season 2 is well underway, the glitch has reared its head.
Duplication glitch forces devs to pause player trading in Diablo 4
On October 22, a Blizzard Forums post notified the Diablo community that player trading had been suspended “until further notice due to a duplication exploit.”

The studio is working to find a solution but there’s no timetable for when the trading system will be reinstated. In the meantime, users should avoid taking advantage of the exploit.
Notably, the developers warned, “Any account that engages in gold and item duplication exploits will be actioned in accordance with our End User License Agreement.”
The duplication glitch and player trading suspension come less than a week after Diablo 4’s Season 2 launch. To the delight of fans, the seasonal content update – which launched alongside Update 1.2.0 – introduced a new questline, vampiric powers, and a host of dungeon changes.
Many see Season 2 as a new lease on life for Diablo 4 following a divisive Season 1 rollout. Time will tell if Blizzard can keep this momentum going as the season marches on.
